Following on from my post a few months back, regarding the fact that the average person can read approximately 3000 books in a lifetime here is a list of books that I have not read yet that I would like to.

I got into an argument recently at an exhibition opening. On spotting a man tapping an exhibit, a very beautiful deep red glass vase with his ring, I politely asked him not to touch.

I was treated to a look of great disdain and was told "I am being careful". Whether he thought he was being careful or not is beside the point. The price tag on the vase was $5000 and clearly he should not have been touching it. "I know all about glass" he then said.

Finally I have a new computer and work permitting will once agin be blogging about art, books, music and other such things on a regular basis again! Art Singapore is coming up soon i'll have lots to say about that!

Its worth noting that any job asks for a degree of professionalism. Whether you are a bus driver or a surgeon, a bank officer or staff of Kentucky fried chicken you are expected to meet certain standards and provide a level of service to your customers. It’s interesting (and often infuriating) to note that artists are usually not considered to be professionals at all.

been having lots of computer problems recntly so no posts for a while. normal service will resume when i get a new laptop...

its been pointed out to me that the average person can read approximately 3000 books in a life time. Say you read one book a week from age ten until age 70 and...well you get the idea.

Tamara de lempicka is one of my favourite artists. She worked in an art deco style and produced a huge number of very beautiful, highly stylized paintings of men and women in her social set.

She was from polish decent but i believe she lived and worked in New york after the 2nd world war.

She is well worth a look as the paintingas a very beautiful and have an increadible hollywood beauty about...

I was sad to hear that Les paul has died today. For anyone who does not know he is the inventor of the electric guitar. Leo Fender managed to get his design into production first but it was Les Paul that did pioneering work.

Les Paul also worked as a recording artist and developed studio recording techniques such as multi tracking. In short he married the analytical skills of an engineer to the vision and invention of an artist and modern music would be absolutely unrecognisable...
