Can we make money online through blogging?

I have joined in the online blogging business for about six months already and have yet to earn a single cent from it. Therefore I have really started to question about all those claims that we really can make money online through blogging. I think if we really want to make money online, blogging certainly is not the best choice for us because a small player who does not has many followers will be very hard to make money online through blogging as compared to a famous blogger who can easily find the online sponsors for his blog. Although we will not be able to make money through blogging, but we certainly can make money online through other online businesses such as video and photo sharing sites as well as social networking sites.
