Halo everyone ! A very special thanks to my good friend Hary (Mod. of wristlounge.com and learning golf now ) for his permission to post this special thread to all of us golfers who loves golf and our own timepieces. :D

Enjoy everyone !

*** HOROLOGY AND GOLF ***

I believe many of you are interested to know, is it safe to wear automatic/mechanical watches for golfing. Unfortunately I myself is not a golfer, hence cannot give you 1st hand experience about the impact of golfing to watches.

I link you to one very good article about horology and golf

http://glashutte.watchprosite.com/sh...ost/ti-519811/

Most of the modern watches are equipped with "shock absorber" system, that protects vital organs. It's actually a very small metall clipper. Only handful of producers out there. The famous producers are Incabloc, Kif

More infor about Incabloc: http://www.incabloc.ch/incabloc_en.html

Seiko has their own patent for shock absorbing system, called DiaShock

Despite built-in shock abosrber system in mechanical watches, I will not recommend wearing mechanical watches for golfing. It will not immediately cause serious damage to your watches, but it would challenge many delicate components if it's frequently exposed to frequent shocks due to swings.

To show you, how delicate a watch movement could be, have a look at the pictures below

Simple, yet robust Rolex movement

And look at this one. I get 'horogasm' if I see this picture: movement of Datograph from Lange & Soehne

Hope it help !
