hi imPerFecTiOn,

dun worry too much about yr enlistment into keathong. you are confirm going into 40SAR for BMT and most probably stay in 40SAR as AI trooper unless you are good and lucky enough to go SISPEC. you are going into either of the 3 AI coy in 40SAR, Archer Braves or Cougar coy.

all the sergeants in the 3 coys are all very nice people so dun worry. as long as you dun do anything wrong, you will have a pretty good life there.
but well, life as a recruit is always being tekan one la, its only after you passed out from bmt and go into your trade phase as PTE then you will have slightly more freedom and a slacker life.

keathong camp is quite a nice camp too. the bunks are big, toilets are even bigger. and you get a bit more good life than those in tekong because your bathing cubicles have doors! and your bunks are also bigger than tekong bunk. 1 bunk has around 11 beds and 6 fans. the only bad thing is there are not a lot of electrical plugs in the room, only around 6 electrical plugs in 1 room and somemore its at the extreme inner part of the room. but dun say i never warn you, dun try charging anything in yr bunk during yr BMT phase when you are still a recruit. if u accidentally trip the electricity circuit of the block during charging (which always happen), your whole coy will kana 1x good time from your specs/csm.

keathong cookhouse food is very nice also.i should say its much better than tekong food actually. because the camp is quite small, so the cooks can prepare quality good rather than just focusing on quantity unlike in tekong. you will get quite a great variety of food, rather than like tekong when the menus keep repeating over the weeks.

the only bad thing is that the emart there only opens once a week on monday. and sometimes it doesnt even open on monday also. so if you really need anything, buy in advance or go beach rd army market to buy. oh and the canteen there is quite nice, especially the western food, but you wont actually get to enjoy it until u passed out from bmt or if u are lucky during bmt, your spec might allow you all to go there once or twice.

the soc obstacles might be a bit challenging cos its a nice course. so all the obstacles are not that seasoned yet. and the run-down route is not as good also, got a lot of turnings here and there. and keathong temperature (for dunno what reason) is slightly hotter than other places, but its quite nice to bathe there cos the water is not that cold also.

once you walk into keathong camp, you will see on one side is 8SAB (singapore armoured brigade) and the other side is a place you will love for quite some time: the track&field, where you will be doing yr PT, 2.4km running etc there. but u will see a nice street soccer court there too and the spec and officers mess on the other side (which you wont get to use it at all, but the facilities/food are quite good inside). further up u will see cookhouse and soc ground and the 40SAR blocks. u will see Hercules (which is the HQ) block first, then stallion (support coy, which u wont get to be enlisted into cos your 11DEC enlistment date is for AI man), then cougar coy block. further up will be the 'A' veh shed which u wont get to use much during yr bmt phase other than running through it during yr morning run or soc rundown. going through the cougar block then u will see the parade sq where u will be doing a lot of PT exercises there during yr 2 years in 40sar and u will also see archer coy block and braves coy block.

oh and there is one impt place. the medical centre. haha.. its in between the HQ block and the track&field, nearer to archer coy block there. so if u need to report sick u will know where to go. but not to worry, u will have a interesting orientation run either on the 2nd or 3rd day when u are enlisted and the specs will bring u ard the camp to orientate u through the camp.

after ur bmt phase, unless u go sispec which chances are quite low, u will remain in yr original coy/platoon/section as AI trooper. ur SC would have identified roles for u during yr bmt phase, so after bmt when u proceed into the trade phase, u will be trained in yr organic role as AI trooper, either as driver, gunner, runner, etc. u will then be doing yr AI training in the A (armoured) vehicles, in this case for 40sar, the ultra M113. but dun listen to all the rumours about AI troopers running behind tanks, thats not true at all. u will be mounted (sitting) in the vehicle and only when u have enemy/obstacles encounters, then u will dismount from the vehicle and clear forward to destroy the enemy, after that u will mount back to the vehicle and continue on. so dun listen and be worried about running behind the vehicles, which will not happen.

but just on the sidenote, u will definitely enjoy yr bmt phase in 40sar one. cos u have nice sergeants, nice OCs/CSMs, basically quite good life there la so dun worry.
