Will you
a) Give it to the less fortunate in e.g. Africa (food and education for starving children, improving disease rampant areas etc)
b) Give it to poorer Singaporeans to help them tide through their financial difficulties.
c) Others.
Let's assume you're so rich, 1 million is nothing to you. In other words, every single cent of this 1 million will be given to somebody or to some cause. The problem is, to whom and to what?
Please state why so!

Giving it to anyone would be silly because you never know if it will be used properly or not.
I would choose option C : create a humanitarian foundation and look for investors to make it bigger.

Give the entire $1,000,000,00 to the Red Cross.
It saddens me to see young kids not being able to have a decent meal, especially the region of Africa.
& Red Cross is the only organization I trust. least I know the money will be use wisely.

I'm a firm believer of a "pass it forward" charity. ( We help you now and when you're successful, you help others). We give the less fortunate opportunities to shine - ability to enter university courses they want, ability to have greater employment opportunities through the contacts we have. These previously-less fortunates, in return, are legally and morally bounded to a contract where they have to give time, effort and/or money back to society.
This is not just applicable in Singapore, it's applicable elsewhere. In Africa, if one is educated, one's opportunities are vast. He can earn more money and when he earns more, he could give back to his nation. (i.e. Fund more individuals to be educated) Of course, such a charity concept could potentially be abused.
Anyway, what's your "humanitarian foundation" for? Who will be the beneficiaries? Jodar added 5 Minutes and 4 Seconds later...
And to add on, I believe that resources should be allocated to people who can bring back more to society if given the resources. (i.e. The resultant benefits to the global society should be greater than the cost of helping that person). That sounds unethical and inhumane, but note that I'm not against resources being allocated to seemingly "useless" people of our society.
What I mean is, if more resources are given to people who can bring changes (but unable to do so due to their circumstances), the potential benefits on society is greater since they can, in turn, help others and set off a chain reaction.
