Well, must have winter clothes, long john can purchase from Vivo and Suntec shops selling winter clothes... I think there's 10% discount... Then must bring lip balm and lots of lotion cause weather may dry up skin... Also lots of money for shopping!!! |

Total SGC$: 631.38 | Re: 1st time to korea what to prepare? you might want to get these (which i have gotten during my travel to korea):
1. long johns (get from Coldwear or Winning Marketing)
> winning marketing > http://www.eguide.com.sg/SG/COMPANY/...nterwear+Shops
> coldwear > http://www.eguide.com.sg/SG/COMPANY/...nterwear+Shops
> others > http://www.eguide.com.sg/SG/SEARCH/Winterwear+Shops/1
2. gloves > these come in different temp settings. meaning if you expect temperature to be around 0 to sub zeros, choosing one that has the lower temp setting on the glove will help u keep warm. the shop assistant should be able to help u in this.
3. jacket > same as the gloves. if you want to, you can get one nicer jacket over in korea shopping mall. but a must to get one before you fly over.you can shrink wrap this jacket and wear the one that you gotten in korea once u have found it's replacement.
4. boots > for ladies, this is a fashion piece (once again). otherwise, good pair of leather track shoes (nike, addidas or puma has them) is good enough. unless you are visiting some mountain areas, consider having timberland boots. otherwise, get your boots in korea....there's alot to choose from there.
5. jeans > take one pair.
6. fashion stockings > i've seen gals over there dressed in hot pants/shorts/minis and with their fashion stockings....very chio...but kinda cold. then again, their stockings are thicker than the ones sold in sg. so, when u r there, get a pair...it is nice n dirt cheap. haha.
7. caps/hats > fashion again. u can get one over there if u think u need it.
8. ear mufflers > as per no.7
9. heat packs > try asking the shop where u r going to get your long johns. get 2 - 4 per person. replenish them over in korea. these will keep u warm and they're helpful for peeps who cannot stand cold. remember your legs/feet will get cold faster...apply these around your lower legs when you are in the coach. put these into your jacket pockets or jeans to keep your body warm.
10. moisturizers > if you tend to have drier skins, get these here or over in korea. otherwise, drink enough fluids along the way in korea even though you do not perspire (you are in fact perspiring just that the cold weather "hides" it for you.)
11. bring credit cards/money > can't say more as w/o the moolah, you just watch what others get....remember to eat along the way!!! it helps to keep your spirits up though. haha.
have great fun! |

Thks! | If you are small built, then perhaps get the thermals (2 sets) from winter time (coldwear sizes is rather "big" for him). As for down feather jacket, I bought from Coldwear which is nicer-imo (though when compared with the one i bought from korea is way much more stylish).
Here's what i bought for 8D7N trip to Korea in early Jan09.
A "down feather" outer jacket
2 wool sweater
2 set of wool (cotton base) thermal wear
2 pair of jeans
1 pair of leather glove
1 pair of cotton glove
2 pair of cashmere thin sock
2 pairs of cotton socks
2 high dense stockings
1 cotton hat
1 wool scarf
1 pack of hand warmer
1 pack of feet warmer
In fact its so cold that my hands and feets are numbed, so leather or cotton hand gloves makes no difference. In fact, as I get cold easily even in S'pore, I ended wearing 1 down feather jacket, 1 wool thermal top, 1 wool sweater, 2 wool thermal bottom, jeans, 1 pair of cashmere socks, 1 pair high dense stockings + heat packs - hands and feet.

I strongly strongly strongly strongly DON'T RECOMMEND YOU to BUY WINTER CLOTHINGS IN SILLYPORE !!
Just buy ONE piece [Jacket] .. will do (Singapore.)
It's SO much CHEAPER for e winter clothings in Korea and on top of that .. it's FASHION-ABLE . . even for guys' ..
Ohh ya - do buy Adidas shoes in Korea - their designs are only found in Korea ..
Rmb to buy the heated warm pack (forgot e name le.)
Hmm ..
When in hotel arhh .. I can tell you - it's VERY hot ..
I think that's about it .. other forumers have cover most of it liao

Total SGC$: 631.38 | Re: 1st time to korea what to prepare? haha....tehlze, don't be so negative leh...give our retailers a chance and yes, the winter fashion over at korea is much better due to the fact that they have winter season but sg do not thus retailers will not invest much in this area.
as for your hotel, it's probably due to the heaters in action. some hotels/motels (esp. those mountain areas) will have underground piping hot water flowing through. just open the balcony/windows slightly to allow air flow exchange? |

Went to OG, Winter Time and Universal Traveller yesterday, hmm, din like the down jacket and phew, ex! So only got 2 wool sweaters, hand and toe warmer. Need to go again this weekend, probably try cold wear as some of you recommended. I tried the down jacket and look like really fat leh. Just imagine still nid to wEAR LONG john, sweater, cant really imagine I look a penguin soon. Think over korea is cheaper cos they gonna clear stocks. Will just get one down jacket first cos will need to ski. |

Most winter clothings here cost more than a hundred bucks in those "big brands" like WinterTime etc.
I managed to grab a "fashion-able" - nice jacket for around 80SGD .. in Dongdaemum ..
Arghhh Don't bother much about ski-ing unless your main purpose (and you know how to ski) to korea is to ski otherwise don't have to bother much .. just teach you the basic - "walk" with that paddle - ski those "small areas".
I miss Lotte World Esp the hotel .. somehow like Disneyland HK .. ;D |

remember, we do not ski often enough and these clothings will end up useless and spoilt at the end of the day. don't waste resources this way? but ski-ing is fun! can try snow boarding too. woohooooo!! |

Going to fren house to try and select winter clothings. she travelled a lot with her husband. see what i can get tonight |

they hav a few 'premium down jacket' for 130++, fill power 680, 90% down, the sales told me can use in weather below 0 degree...
but when comparing to those from wintertime, uniqlo's are way lighter and thinner..
another thing, hav anyone tried their heattech? the sales oso told me its better than long john....
first time goin to winter country, not sure whether to buy from uniqlo...
hope to get some help here..
