is $40 expensive for hair and makeup by a professional at my place?

recently i book a ex shisedo makeup artise and hair stylist for my prom night tgt with 4 friends one person is $40. and the artiste comes to my house to help us do out hair and makeup.

after i book i told my mum because i tot she was ok with it.

i know she sure think that $40 is expensive but i already went to check the market prices is about $50 - $80

so $40 for me i tot is cheap but my mum say is not

she say that im too young to do the hair and makeup and i will look super weird .

but everyone ( almost) is booking makeup artise and hairstylist. even my teachers gave us time to find hair stylist and makeup artiste.

she say that i do not need to do my hair and just ownself put a bit foundation and lipgloss

but almost all the girl is making their hair and putting on makeup. i do not even know how to put eye shadow so i be like odd one out during prom night

somemore my dress is plain colour soft material so is not very formal . so i need makeup and hair to be done to look at least normal for prom.

but my mum i spend too much $$ and want to look like go on stage to dance

i do not wish to spend so much $$ on prom. but almost all girls is making their hair... doing makeup.... if i don't do i will look out of place and now she blamees me

idk this is a complaint thread or fashion thread so if its under the wrong category can mod help me move to the correct place please

$40 is cheap!!!! imagine getting all the cosmetics yourself, you would definitely exceed $40. Or getting a simple hairdo would probably cost around $20 -$35 already.

OMGosh.. 40 bucks is really cheap for make up + haircut/style. My haircut itself is like $55 already. (but i think cos there is really expensive lar! Haha)

Anyway, it's only right for girls to look they're best anytime! It is especially in prom nights! Even if you say that it costs $100 bucks, i will still support your decision of a makeover! You go girl!

Re: is $40 expensive for hair and makeup by a professional at my place?

$40 bucks is cheap girl!!! considerin the fact that the makeup artiste is willing to travel to ur hse to do too.

i had my sec sch prom makeup n hair done for 70$

for my jc prom i had it done for 45$ both are done at makeup shops outside.

prom is a sorta one in a lifetime thing and it marks the end of your studies somesort (: so i think it is worth to hire a makeup artiste (somemore for that price), you wont want to look back on your prom photos and go urgh! why did i look like that durin prom?!?!

and u said ur mum rather u go with light makeup rather than have makeup like ure going on stage.

please tell ur mum that stage makeup and dinner makeup is VERY different. the makeup artiste will be doing ur makeup for night/dinner event so it wont turn out too exaggerating like what ur mum thinks.

furthermore u can get the makeup done according to how to like it too. if u like for it to be simple and subtle u can request for it. believe me, it is worth it and makeup from a professional will really make a difference in how you look (: it sorta completes the whole prom thing. afterall end of the day thats whats fun about prom! havin the chance to dress up, be pretty and celebrate with ur friends and classmates.

Go ahead with the decision, it is really worth the price for such package by professional But don't end up quarreling with your mum, try to make her understand the situation more. Afterall prom night make the end to your secondary school life, make sure it end up nicely ^^

Go ahead prom night is really once in a lifetime although you might be attending even more D&D in the future.. But if you saying $40 bucks it considered cheap already for make up and hair styling I remember i spend $50+ for it last time .

Btw time to learn how to make up too, with internet you can easily learn anything from youtube now.

I feel like saying luckily Im not a girl, need makeup etc.
Perhaps later, someone would say that boys would get make-up, haircut, hairstyle or whatever crap... costing much also.

It should be cheap.

I cut my hair at a salon and it costs me $25 already.

And you should doll up for your prom!

I disagree, guys tend to look just as normal regardless of what they wear. But in order to look more outstanding in prom, hahaha imagine how much it would cost.

All the formal clothes would already cost a bomb (unless they dont mind looking like chao ah beng), in addition, it's not cheap to get a hairdo by a professional hairstylist. I think that many teens just think that punk and spike hairstyles are nice, but in fact, they look atrocious. -.-"

haha im glad i was a girl, a simple hairstyle and simple dress would be alright.
