Re: What would you all recommend for acne skin ?

I believe different type of acne(blackheads, cysts, scars..) got different type of treatments.

From my exp:
Pimples - nixoderm(good for spot treatment)
-differin (i like this)
-mandelic acid(good for spot treatment but it darkens & can severly dry the area so long term is not recommend)
-SES corrector gel (ok, but differin works beta)
-tea tree based products (not bad)
-I did alot of trial and errors including home remedies, the main thing i found from using so many products is that you need to give it time for them to work their effect. Excluding those spot treatments, the facial products you apply daily, you really need to give them time without altering the regime for few months to see mark improvement and stick to the regime. Used to include weekly mask and exfoliation. Personally i hate those that's too harsh on skin eg. retin A, AHA, & some other (cant remember their names but it makes your skin damn red and sensitive to practically everything especially the sun), so i could not use them for more than a month
-I think what clear my skin back then was also finding a balance with my hormones.

Blackheads:
still finding. differin used to shed my blackheads to a clean state but they came back after few weeks. Still in midst of finding a solution.

May i ask how long your blackheads are there before you started on the nuskin?
because i have blackheads basically rooted in there for years, they became so stubborn that i cant even remove them with scrubs and stuufs

If your skin can take it, Retin A is pretty good but its quite a strong med. Dermalogica products have been highly recommended and I personally used (and still using) when I had acne. People I know who has acne has also swear by Dermalogica products.

Re: What would you all recommend for acne skin ?

Hada Labo.
Frankly speaking, don't bother about pimple cream. It's crap. To a point, I realize you just need to cleanse properly, moisture your skin sufficiently is enough. These alone can reduce the number of pimples coming out, of course you will have but small ones which heal in a few days.

So, bottom line, if you are acne prone, please please please don't put makeup too freq!! Choose the correct product. Choose gel based cleanser... No cream coz your oil glands are over producing..

That's my thought n experience. I do get small pimples once a while, it goes off in a few days before I noticed it's gone.

Re: What would you all recommend for acne skin ?

Hi ladies

I've just posted some tips on acne in this section. Since acne comes in so many forms, it's best to have a professional dermatologist or facial therapist analyse your skin first to determine what you can or cannot use. There are people with very dry, red and irritated skins using acne products for oily skins and this is so wrong for them

I used nothing.

Maybe 3-4 months ago, I had a lot of break-outs. I almost didn't want to see myself on the mirror, because I felt like I looked like a monster.

I visited a dermatologist, used soaps and all. But I didn't feel like they're all working.

So I just got fed up, and didn't mind it at all. Now, I am pimple-free again.

Re: What would you all recommend for acne skin ?

I think by following some simple tips to maintain hygiene, it can be controlled like:-
-Drink plenty of water
-Keep your face clean
-Avoid oily, fried & junk food
-Don't touch your face too much
-After washing your face just pat it dry, don't rub it vigorously
-Exfoliate your skin to open the skin pores.
-

Re: What would you all recommend for acne skin ?

if you're past 18, the puberty-stage acnes would have lessen, use T3/OXY and dab on pimple spots religiously day and night. (use 3M acne patch on the raw pimples). This is my HG routine, works everytime.

if it's puberty-stage acne, i guess change to a facial wash formulated for acne.

But ultimately, just follow the basic rules like drinking water/sleep regularly/try not to touch your face/less makeup to reduce acne outbreak.

Well...yeah...having a skin care regime + plenty of hydration is essential. But if you're desperate, you could try Tea Tree Oil from Body Shop. Works miracles for people like me with sensitive skin

Don't know how to remove an acne coz I let them naturally go away if ever that I have one. This are the reasons that I don't usually have it coz what princysharma post is a simple tips that can help you prevent having acne. I just want to add some tips like change your pillow sheets once in awhile since make-up, oil (from your face), sweat, saliva, dead skins, etc are compiled in your pillow sheet which you use to lie your face for at least 6-8 hours a day. Also always clean your hair since smoke, dirts, oils you use for it or hairspray and other styling products might clogged your pores. Prevention is still better than treatment.

Re: What would you all recommend for acne skin ?

I used Acne Clear to treat my acne - it is the bottle and liquid version that you can find from Guardian I think. Costs around SGD 5, which you will need to shake up the bottle so the powder at the bottom is mixed into the mixture.

Also, I try to control my diet as such, to avoid the following items that are known to cause your hormones to create more acne:
1) milk, i guess dairy products
2) fried food
3) chocolate

These advice were told to me by the doctor that I visited for my acne last time, and also from my friends that visited other doctors.

Hope this helps =)
