Any recommendations for point-to-shoot type of camera?

Hi guys, I would love to bring a lightweight camera with me in my travels~but being a camera-idiot, may I ask for some recommendations?
Hopefully is within the following criteria

-Less than $300
-easy to use for a beginner
-short lag time when taking photos
-good quality images(not too grainy)
-durable

not sure what else to look out for~
yupp, so that should be all to it...
Thanks!

very late reply but for future people reading this for that price range i would def recommend sony, it is really good for that price range and has all of the features you ask for and a very good noise iso for night shots

Your smartphone
Lightweight: yes
Less than $300: maybe yes? but you also use it as a phone
Easy to use: yes, once you familiarize with it
Shutter lag: slow
Good image quality: usable quality in good light, can still print maybe on 4R
Durable: take good care of it should be able to serve you for a while

Compact digital camera
Lightweight: yes (unless you buy this with lens protrusion body)
Less than $300: Maybe for some models
Easy to use: yes, once you are familiar with the controls
Shutter lag: not as fast as DSLR, but definitely faster than smartphone
Good image quality: usable in good light for 4R prints, poor in bad low light
Durable: you still have to take good care of it while in use

DSLR
Lightweight: no
Less than $300: entry level ones still cost around $800
Easy to use: yes once you are familiar with it, entry level ones control menu are usually straight-forward
Shutter lag: faster than digital cams and smartphone
Good image quality: yes. although in low light pro level ones are better than entry level ones.
Durable: yes. But still dont hit or drop it hard

You still have to see what type of photos you usaully take. If you take photos of friends or selfies, that which your subjects will wait and pose for you, just get a smartphone or compact digital cam. If you often take photos in low light, or take lots of action sports photographs, a DSLR is minimum.

If you take the variety types of photos (some action, want options for creative shots at times, shoot in restaurants low light condition, at night, some sports), consider an entry level DSLR. The high ISO noise control, camera modes and faster shutter lag helps a lot.

Re: Any recommendations for point-to-shoot type of camera?

https://shop.gopro.com/APAC/cameras/

Try the Gopro cameras.

Gopro Hero simplified cost only about S$240/-.
Small and light weight
Simple and easy to use
Shutter lag - you need to go and check this detailed spec. I know these cams have fast and high frame rates for smooth action video captures.
Image quality is about 5-6 megapixels, more than enough for smaller prints. But have to check these cams' performance in low light though.
Durable? Maybe dont drop it, but i think these cams are water proof to a certain extend.

Looks like the Gopro lower end series might meet most of your need. They can also be mounted on selfie sticks.
