Any tips to lighten your ride ?

Lighter ride = Lesser fuel consumption = better mileage = Save more money

Any tips to lighten your ride ? Problem with lightening ride is that dyno cannot tell if your bhp has increase because it is not a performance mod like exhaust or extractor, but it still increases your ride bhp because a lighter car can run faster than a heavier car and that is a proven fact.

I am sure a lot of Toyota Vios driver will agree with me because their cars are much lighter than other cars in the same CC such as Honda City, Mazda 3, Honda Fit, Nissan Sunny, etc.

These are some of those ideas I have:
1) Full carbon fiber non-adjustable bride bucket seats 3.95kg each seat
2) Full carbon fiber front bonnet
3) Full carbon fiber rear boot
4) Remove Spare Tyre in boot (Not sure if this is legal in Sg)
5) Remove rear passenger seats (Usually done before going to M'sia race track)
6) Lighten crack pully
7) Remove all bodykits or use light weight materials
8) Light weight imported rims with low profile tyres
9) Driver to lose weight too .. haha

lol.. 100km enough to go from Jurong to Changi and back with lots of left over to get lost.

CF parts are very ex.. n so are the Brides.
If wanna go full overboard n have lots of $$ to spend, the possibilities are endless.

CF doors, mirrors, perspex/lexan windshield/windows, remove sound deadening......... etc etc.

For the more practical average us, maybe only 4,7,9 applies.

Haha must depend on the driver's weight .. if driver is slim too den maybe same or slightly lighter .. if driver is very heavy den maybe half of his or her weight .. this helps to balance out the weight

Re: Any tips to lighten your ride ?

I think if you change any parts possible that have CF versions you can shed some weight, there's also CF car battery

Don't put unnecessary items in car. I know of some people who just like to throw things in boot like pail and car wash stuff. Don't have to put in car unless you really wash car so often.

Pump nitrogen instead of air also can lighten haha... but seriously the weight difference is very small but just saying the fact that nitrogen is lighter than atmospheric air.

Sales talk lah... common sense how much air in the tires? Difference between pure nitrogen and air is how much you can google. Different is almost negligible compared to overall weight of car

True. Air is already 78% nitrogen.

The main benefit of using pure nitrogen gas in tyres is that it's more stable when heated,
hence the use in race cars where the tyre really gets heated up and pressure has to be kept near constant.

In everyday cars, firstly tyres rarely get heated enough to experience a drastic pressure change,
and 2ndly even with the change, most of us won't feel the difference at all unless trying to shave seconds off to work or avoiding erp.

so unless it's free, its not worth it. Wouldn't trust stores like autobacs also..
even if they pump normal air, how would you know?

Re: Any tips to lighten your ride ?

actually when changing parts to CF might also post a slightly higher danger to the driver/passenger in the cockpit. Car are normally designed in the way that the materials is able to absorb the impact first before it affect the area in the cockpit.
Take for example changing a normal bonnet to a CF bonnet. When impact hits on the front area, I believe the damaged on a car using CF bonnet will be worst than a normal bonnet car.
