The latest version of the PSP mainboard can't be modded due to the conflict in the reading of Sony-registered IPL. The new maoinboard can only recognise an IPL (initial program loader - boot program) registered by Sony, and this prevents custom firmware fro being installed.

sori i noob.. | before buying the psp, if you check the system firmware version is 4.01, then that'll be the latest mainboard version and thus not able to install custom firmware at time. if it's anything before (e.g. 3.90 or anything smaller than 4.01), then it's possible.

if i bought a psp slim in the past, can i mod the version 4.01 m33??
then after upgrade the version to 4.01 izzit cannot play *ahem* game liao?
