Hi Kean, may i know what & why you and your gf decided to register a marriage in Australia?
Reading thru their marriage law, they doesn't seem to deter foreigner tying a knot there.
If you register your marriage in Australia or anywhere outside Singapore, ROM will not acknowledge under its system. Considering this, you're actually not legally married under Singapore law. I think it will be up to individual company's or body's discretion to validate it should in any case a marriage certificate is required for whatsoever reasons.
This is what i understand through my JP previously. Correct if i'm wrong.

Yeah the reason being if statutory broad were to request for a prove of marriage for application to whatsoever, then your certificate will not be recognize here.
Maybe if you die die have to do it there, why not consult a legal adviser on Singapore's marriage laws.
(mod, can please move this to Wedding forum? Seems like posted wrongly)

This is what i understand through my JP previously. Correct if i'm wrong. | We decided to register our marriage there cos we want an ROM that is different.Something to remember for.And also we intend to do it on 9 september 2009.I guess it will be difficult to get this date in singapore.
I never know that singapore don't recognise marriage cert from other country???
Is this for real?????
Does that mean that some statutory board out there might not even accept my cert from australia?for example like HDB for buying flat etc.....??
