Re: Anyone interested in Beading?

Hi Frozie,

it's good to find someone who interested too :-) Do u n ur girlfriend have a website?
if u don't mind we can update each other where to shop.

Me first (^_^)
1)AppleBay at Chinatown point building level 2.
The salegirl is very helpful & only need to spent $20 in a single receipt to be their member.
They have 3 to 4 different member card to pick & get 5% less in the future

2) i forget the name of the store but it's at People Park level 1
The staff uniform is red polo tshirt. They have alot of great charms available.

Do visit them.

Re: Anyone interested in Beading?

Hi, my gf does make earrings once in awhile when she finds a nice piece to work on. As for me, i've done a pair myself, it was quite an interesting experience!

some of the shops that i know of... i used to go to the bead shop that was at heeren basement? but im not sure if it's still there.

our usual haunts right now would be at people's park center...there're at least 3 shops there with a good variety of beads, so you might wanna check it out. there's good dessert shops there as well!

i think the chinatown point shop caters to only very specific type of beads.. but yeah if u're lucky u can find pretty nice ones there as well.

i wouldn't mind picking this up more seriously if i had the time though, and yeah i still dont own a decent set of jewelry making equipment. =/

it'll be great if people share their tips, or maybe even their creations here by posting pics!

Re: Anyone interested in Beading?

Hi,
Are u talking about the dessert shop just out side of golden dragon at people's park center??
Well, got to go n try heeheee....

There's a shop called ViVe creation at Chinatown Point #03-14.
They giving class like basic stuff, doing clay beads, wiring & a lot more compare to other places i felt. But the class is not cheap =(
For the tools, i don't think there's a need to own the whole set. Because, i did not make full use of my set =P just get 3 basic jewellery making tools which u think u needed most. Btw, they are not cheap too. Guess that there's no cheap hobbies after all.

Re: Anyone interested in Beading?

Yea yea i think that's the one. There are 2 dessert stalls side by side. I prefer the one on the right though. xD they have a branch at raffles place arcade too.

ok sorry for digressing, yeah i agree i think u can make do with about 2-3 pliers and cutters. well, i guess if u take care of them well they'll last u a long time, so u only need to spend on beads

Re: Anyone interested in Beading?

I bead too! Though I'm still a noob.. >.<

There's a beading shop called Purple Beads in Somerset Midpoint too. It's located on the 3rd Storey.

I learnt my basic spiral there and did a Two Part Harmony. The teacher is really patient and she teaches real well. She sits down with me and teaches me step by step unlike other teachers who will skip a step here and there.

They sell interesting stuffs and the projects there are glamourous. If you guys are free, maybe you can go down take a look. But I think they do not open on Sundays..

Re: Anyone interested in Beading?

Hi hi,

I visit mix & match too!!! Most of the crystal i use is from there. They carried more colours for swarovski crystals than others stores that i visit.

Btw, I found one store called "Beads Workshop" at sunshine plaza on wed (near nafa i think).
They have charms from US!!! very unique... but a bit ex =_( LOL....
Address is 91 Bencoolen Street, Sunshine Plaza #01-09 S(189652). Forget to ask what time they open & close.

There's another store called "Beads Passion" at Far East Plaza which I would like to visit next week. Open from 11.30 to 9pm daily.

Will update again

I wonder if anyone of you have tried importing materials, like buying them online? Anyone with experiences to share?

Sunshine plaza is indeed near nafa. You can walk from dhoby stn, or if you're a little more hardworking, from bugis stn.

Re: Anyone interested in Beading?

I currently get a lot of glass beads from ebay sellers because I'm a little disappointed by the cheap-looking glass and plastic ones from spotlight.

Anyway, does anyone know where to get rose gold wire and sea glass here? Art friend only carries brass and copper wire.

Hi,

I never try importing materials before as they mostly sell in bulk. which i don't think i need that much for a same items. But it will be good, if a few of us combine together to order

Re: Anyone interested in Beading?

I'm doing beading at the moment myself, but try to go vivie creation to learn the clay, beading and wiring classes. According to the teacher, one person enroll have to pay S$@220, but if we have 3 person go together learn at the same time she will give discount 10% or S$180 each person per course.
So right now i'm looking for another 2 partner here to go for the classes at discounted rate. Anyone?
