Re: anyone really superstitious?

2 to share, both taught to me by my father.

1) Never clip your finger nails at late night. (I never knew why, they said not to ask)

2) If you are bleeding and you wipe yourself with something, do not throw it into the rubbish bin. Burn it or flush down the toilet (For this, they said that people might pick it up to use the blood for their rituals and stuff).

I don't really believe this, but you know about that chinese saying about believing stuff, i'll just avoid doing this without knowing why.

Re: anyone really superstitious?

heard that u cannot turn around if someone calls your name at night out in the open =/
if not the 阳气 at both ur shoulder/forehead will disappear hence.. =X

& aborted babies will go back to pester the Mum @@

I've nv been involved in rituals but it has hppned to my family members. Most of the time it is caused by ppl going to temple to ask this n that so they assume incredible stuffs that befall u n require u to perform rituals.

Re: anyone really superstitious?

I never watch that episode, but what i know is that if u cut ur hair or nails late at night, the good "brothers" may happen to pass by and take ur form, so there will be two you, and they will try to harm people who know you by luring them.

Re: anyone really superstitious?

If you can perfectly cut an apple in front of the mirror at exactly 12 midnight... You will see the reflection of your future spouse in the mirror. Or something like that.

Re: anyone really superstitious?

Haha, my dad is the ultimate champion when it comes to superstitions. Here's some of his quirky quotes:
1. Don't shake you leg or you'll lose money.
2. Don't eat in front of a mirror as people will not like you (excuse me?!)
3. Don't sweep the floor at night,
4. Don't use the knife at night. (of course, night would mean GMT +8 according to Singapore time)
5. Don't stack bowls and plates(or people will not like you or you'll lose money or something.)
6. Don't install lamps above the bed as it'll suck your soul or something (of course, for practical reason, I like this as I hate light shining into my eyes)
7. Never laugh at a monkey or imitate one as it might be Hanuman(no I'm serious)
8. Follow those cheap tear away calenders. They have advices on it that can help you succeed in life.
9. Door numbers must add up to a certain lucky number. If not, it has to be removed. (Yes, my parents' house door had only 2 numbers on it. Good thing I don't live there anymore)
10. Never photograph a baby. You'll take away his luck. (Nikon and Canon, are you listening? You guys are powerful stuff)

Re: anyone really superstitious?

Say "Excuse me" or "Sorry" when you are answering the call of Nature in Nature.
Number 13 is considered unlucky number. Some lift don't have storey 13.

Why would someone get a shock looking at their own face?

Too ugly.

"Doctor, every morning when I get up and look in the mirror, I feel like throwing up. What's wrong with me?"

"I don't know but your eyesight is perfect."
