Anyone who took H1 jap A levels?

Hi anyone of u who took H1 jap at the MOELC before? I wanna know how A levels is like or even H1 jap... cos i actually tot of dropping it before June since im afraid i cant cope well or i cant really score well in it after spending quite some time on it.Plus im not too sure if jap can be of much help in the future. Even if i wanna continue it in uni, i have an O level cert and N3 JLPT cert. On the other hand i like jap and find it a waste to drop it after completing it for Os with an A2. Its a special skill not many people have here. i can choose to take h1 jap this year in jc1 or in jc2. feeling quite stressed out from this issue bugging me xD

any advice or info about h1 jap would be greatly appreciated

Re: Anyone who took H1 jap A levels?

I took H1 Japanese in JC. It was my favorite subject because I like to learn languages. I did very well for it. You need to have a good grasp of N3 and preferably N2 Japanese grammar.

Perhaps the most challenging part of the paper was the essay and the oral. You need to have a wide range of vocabulary and for that I recommend you use some language sites such as www.iknow.jp and www.japaneseclass.jp to expand your vocabulary. (The former is an excellent site but you have to pay for usage)

You also need to practice speaking and writing the language. Try keeping a Japanese online journal at www.lang-8.com. The users will correct your posts and you can help others learn English by correcting their journal entries.

Whether or not you should drop Japanese depends on the amount of time you have to spare learning the language, and the passion you have for it. I personally love the Japanese language very much and I have a higher proficiency in it as compared to my mother tongue. That said, H1 Japanese might not be able to act as a substitute for H1 Mother Tongue in some local universities. However, it does look nice on your certificate and interviewers will respect you for your extra linguistic talent.
