I been a Gunners' fan since 1980 when I saw them lost 1-0 to West Ham in the FA Cup and lost the UEFA to Valencia on penalties. Graham Rix an England international player then missed his penalty.
Over the years, I have been thrilled and also been disappointed with them.
The best memory I have was in the 1999 season when Arsenal has to travelled to Anfield on the last day of the season. We not only had to win but we have to win by 2 clear goals in order to pip Liverpool for the title at that time Anfield was like a fortress to Liverpool.
Alan Smith (Not the current Man Utd Player) gave us the lead and Michael Thomas who Arsenal sold to Liverpool scored the 2nd goal that gave us the title with virtually the last kick of the match. Anfield was stunned into silence!!! :biggrin4:
Another hightlight was our double in 1998 as well as on 2004 wher we went the entired season without losing.
To me, Arsene Wenger is the best signing ever. His eyes for raw diamonds is an exceptional talent. He also groomed these unknown players into World Class players and sold them for a hugh profits.
Fellow Gunners, put your trust and faith in him!
We are in the rebuilding stage, we have one of the best young teams in the World. Give them time to mature and gain experiences. Once they have achieved that, we will be Champions again and again! :biggrin4:

there are a few players who he signed and turned up to be flops.Francis jeffers,Slyvian Wiltord,Pascal Cygan,Julio Baptista....just to name a few.And i think his policy of grooming youngsters are not applicable in todays context.Imagine supporters go into emirates stadium just to watch their fav team loses due to inexperience.
Arsenal shld be a team aiming for the trophy, but in recent years they seems to show little ambitions in challenging the trophy. It could be due to the large debts they incurred for the construction of emirates stadium, but i do think that they should really change their youth policy.
But i do believe henry departure will fires up arsenal since he has been a disruptive influence last season.I do believe arsenal can end up in top 4 again, but definitely will notwin the titlein my opinion:biggrin4:

Francis Jeffers was a total flop. As for Wiltord, well he did scored some important goals. As for Baptista, he did not settle in well and keeps complaining about the weather like Joses Reyes. He did scored 4goals against Liverpool in the League Cup.
I think Arsenal will struggle to finish top 4 as most of their more experience players had left. The current team is still too inexperience.
Arsenal's main problem was that they kept losing neccessary points to lower standard teams but they did well against the other top 3 teams. In the end, losing points when they really should not have caused them dearly last season.

Arsenal depends on its youthful players. Wenger rather depend on them and not splash big $ on a big name player who could turn out to be a flop like Jeffers.
btw....The Emirates Cup is on tonight, a chance for us to see our new signed Crotian striker.

I am an Arsenal fan a decade after you thread starter. I was watching them in George Graham time. But the manager whom i admit all time in Arsenal is not AW unfortunately but the legendary hebert Chapman.
Arsenal Fans should know him anyway so i dont need to introduce him any futher.

If the players really want him to stay they really got to push close to Man U and Chelsea to show Wenger that he should con't grooming these future stars if not i can't see him stayin.
Nice to see Eduardo off the mark in the Amsterdam Tournament last night. =)

LOL i am a hardcore Man Utd fan since I was 9 years old.. so of course every man utd and arsenal match i keep wanting man utd players to whack arsenal players or see them fight.. lol.. ok side track already..
I do not support arsenal...BUT.. I like Cesc Fabregas alot.. Especially at such a young age, he fitted in quite well in the arsenal midfield and display quality performance and crucial passes. This guy is worth looking out for next season.

I am hoping that AW will stay. He is Mr Arsenal. And like him i am very disappointed that we dont get that kind of money to buy players like the rest of the clubs do. I hope that never season we are able to spend the kind of money after we moved in for a year in emirate stadium or let Bernie of F1 take over where he already clamed interest (he turned F1 to the third popular sport in the world.

We are unable to compete with the money MU, Cheski or Spurs had spend, we are still repaying the loan we took for building The Emirates Stadium. Beside, expensive players does not gurantee that they are able to cope with the EPL. Even proven English players like Jeffers and Lee Chapman failed when they were brought by us.
It does not mean that an unknown player will not make it too.
Let's say, we brought Ronaldino at 50 million pounds, when he is sold off in future, the most we get is plus or minus couple of millions but if an unknown player is groomed and become famous, that player could be sold for tens of Millions more. Anelka was brought from PSG for about 500,000 pounds but was told couple of years later to RM for 23 millions pounds. We brought Febregas from Barcelona for around 500000 pounds, today, if we decide to sell him, he will probably cost them a region of 20 millions or more. All these is pure business sense.
A famous player does not come cheap neither will his pay. Whereas a lesser known player who might even perform better if given the right training and grooming, will cost a quarter lesser.
Like I written earlier on, a famous player does not neccessarily mean that he will cope and do well in the robust EPL. Likewise, a player who is still unknown, might be able to cope better and perfrom better as well.
A famous player with a big reputation has nothing to prove but a lesser known player will have more to prove and strive to be better and better and has more to prove than anyone.
We might not win the EPL or CL this season, but we do have 1 of the best young teams in the World. Give them time to gel and blossom....

It would be good to have one or two more senior players who had played enough to step into the picture to guide the youth on soaking against the pressure.
