Baldness / Hair Loss

Im considered relatively young, 17 years old this year, and my mom recently commented that a part of my hair at my scalp is seemingly thinner than the hair at the rest of my head. She's also mentioned that when sweeping my room, she'll find a lot of long hairs on the floor ( I keep my hair long )

So Im worried that Im balding, and at such a young age too. Im not sure if its common though, and Id really like some advice if anyone can give any. Ill see if I can take any pics on my hair and post it up later.

Qns : Any advice on how to reduce hair loss/grow more hair, and is it common for people my age to lose hair like this?

Re: Baldness / Hair Loss

Hope this helps ^ ^

Hair Loss is one of the most common health issues men and woman face: More than Half of all men experience it at different stages in their lives, and about a quarter of all women.

Many different things can cause and affect hair loss, some of which can only be treated with professional assistance. There are good news however: Many things can be done, and even genetic hair loss is stoppable. Here are simple & effective techniques to help you prevent Hair Loss:

Be Gentle: Give your hair some rest. Don't color, straighten, pull or tie it more than needed.

Keep a Balanced Diet: Feed the roots of the hairs with a balanced diet, rich in Proteins, Iron and Vitamin B. Foods such as fibers, sprouts, eggs, fish and liver will make your roots stronger.

Avoid Bad Hair Food: High consumption of Alcohol, Coffee, Tea, Sweetened Drinks (especially Coke), High fat meals, Sugars and generally unhealthy foods are not recommended.

Reduce Stress: Stress has been proven to be one of the worse enemies of hair. It causes blood vessels to shrink, reducing blood flow to the roots, while releasing hormones that accelerate hair loss. Reduce the stress in your life in any way possible.

Less Smoking: Smoking reduces the flexibility of blood vessels that feed the hair's roots. The less you smoke, the better.

Be Active: Cardiovascular activity can reduce the secretion of DHT, a prime cause of hair loss. Be wary, as it can also change the PH balance of your scalp. It is recommended to wash your hair and scalp after the activity with a gentle shampoo. On the other hand, weight resistance training can cause an increase in DHT levels.

Train you Scalp:

Just like any other organ, the scalp skin needs training to invigorate it and make it flexible. This will help blood, oxygen and nutrients reach the hair roots. Here are some sample exercises to try:

Massage your scalp gently with a warm towel using your fingers.
Grab your scalp on both sides of your head, and gently massage upwards.

Place on hand on top of the other on the tip of scalp. Fold the hands to create suction between the hands and the scalp.

These should last 30-60 seconds each. If your scalp skin is dry, repeat daily. An oily scalp should be trained twice a week before the shower.

Hygiene is great: It's very important to keep the hair clean! Things such as Lice, Skin infections, excess oil and lack of moisture accelerate hair deterioration.

Dry hair is stronger: When the hair is moist or wet, it is most prone to fall off. Let it dry before you brush it or treat it otherwise.

Use products:

Some products have been proven to stop hair loss and even grow back lost hairs.
Keep in mind that Hair loss should be continued treating perpetually, even when it stops. Also, it is recommended to consult an expert that will adjust a treatment specifically for you.

Only hair problem I have at the moment is some dandruff, does that cause hair to drop?

Re: Baldness / Hair Loss

Visiting a hair specialist is the safest option as well as the costliest lol
My fren also had a hair loss problem and after visiting the specialist, it stopped.
However it took a few injections and a few hundred dollars too.
lmao

Re: Baldness / Hair Loss

Tiggerwrath: I'm using Kerastase "Bain Prevention" - reduce & prevent hair loss..i think can only use 1 bottle and stop for a while and then start again. Cos if use continuously, scalp may be too dry..

Re: Baldness / Hair Loss

I have the same problem but mine started earlier than yours. I've tried a some hair products but most of them don't really work that well but recently I went down to the National Skin Centre and saw a doctor they gave me some hair product and it really really works at least for me. (:

Re: Baldness / Hair Loss

mE, i m under beijing101 treatment now.My advise is that for those who wanna use those hair loss tonic selling outside,be sure to get 1 shampoo for cleaning the head scalp. tonic alone will not help without a clean scalp. Also massage ur head scalp for blood circulation.
