Anyone in Band here? Well i am.

erm.. ya during sec sch ba.. was in clarinet at first.. then play bass clarinet.. after which clarinet again.. and bass clarinet.. in the end play awhile basson .. i quit =.=.. i join becoz my cousin was inside.. and no other cca interest me =X

was from military band in sec sch. after that did join poly band for 1 year... but on and off though

Thats sad, you had to keep changing instrument from Bass Clar to Clar. But actually not much different... as played before. Only embouchure changes.

To kebin, is poly band life and sec band life very different? From what i heard from my fren in jc, JC band life isnt as fun as secondary one. She said no more being enthu about going to band.

I used to play the trombone in my secondary school but now waiting for poly to start, still considering whether to join band anot ahha.

My favourite piece is Pictures at an exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky and Beethoven Symphony No.9

mmm not really. actually poly band is like more about the passion to go for practices? what ur fren say quite true also... if u got no frens, you might not be that enthu to go. but of course u can still make new frens in poly band. its still quite fun though

I'm now in band!

not sure will i be playing Baritone horn or not.

But until now,teacher say i'm going to play this instrument.
Think is confirm.

Just join this CCA not long ago,may ask questions about all this.
Do help me on it or give me advice,thanks!

Reason to join this CCA:
For CCA points.
Primary school got join harmonica but because my instrument is broken,i quit.
i only know how to blow doh re me all this for harmonica.For secondary school teacher want us to write what CCA we join inprimary cshool,i did't even write as i'm afraid of going into band.
But thinking back,it might be a right choice.

By the way,i'm only Sec 1 now and i know almost nothing about music so seniors,
do help me if i have problem!

Be prepared to have many many many many practices. Unless your band super slack lar. Oh ya no passion for band please don come.... Thats what my senior said when we had our first practice.

i was b4 in sec and ite days.. i played oboe.. i really sux at it.. lols.. no one wan to teach mi leh.. than the double reed cost a bomb.. when i broke it, freakin sian la.. my music theory oso like shit.. i donno how to read music oso.. haha

too much piece to remember...let's just say almost all.
Reason...when i was young, i wanted to play trumpet...

yeah...true. all bands are strict, especially when it comes to music. but nowadays, not as strict as before. when i was sec 1, my conductor was that strict. now, seemed relax. it's all about generation.

im in my school's military band~
and i play the clarinet ^^
last year for me~ =/

why i joined~ not really sure... partly cause my sis used to be in the band too~
and once i was in~ well i stayed... haha ^^

I wasn't in any CCA when I was in pri sch. Now I'm 13 and CCA is compulsory. So I went into band. Hmm, I'm thinking of requesting for the flute. What do you think of the flute? Is it difficult to master?

Advice please!

Generally, what I feel for brasses and woodwinds is that woodwind instruments are generally easier to pick-up and learn faster but it comes with a price of many running notes and pieces are more technically difficult whereas brasses are harder to pick-up and pitching wise may be more difficult for some instrument like the french horn.
