Camping permits from AXS

TO CATER to the growing popularity of camping especially at the coastal parks, campers will able to apply for permits via AXS stations islandwide or through its website from April 15.
They will have to apply for the permits at least one day in advance if they want to camp at these five parks - Changi Beach Park, East Coast Park, Pasir Ris Park, Sembawang Park and West Coast Park. AXS stations can also be found in these five parks.
National Parks Board (NParks) is absorbing the $1 administrative fee for each permit per day, in light of the current economic dowturn, it said in a statement on Wednesday.
A camping permit is required on a daily basis both on weekdays and weekends, including public holidays and school holidays. Each camper will be able to apply for a maximum of eight days per month.
Currently, camping permits are only required on weekdays and are issued manually by rangers who approach campers to scan their identity cards and print out a permit.
'This, however, has become increasingly challenging with the growing popularity of camping,' said Mr Kong Yit San, Director of Parks.
The new system would allow them to better manage and enhance the camping experience without causing inconvenience to other park users, NParks said.
