Can I bring canned food in my checked luggage from SG to CHINA?

Hey people.

I tried calling the staff at changi airport regarding this matter but she told me she has no idea and redirected me to the website of china custom and ask me to search myself.
I can't read chinese well and the translation makes everything retarded. !!

So can I pack canned foods like canned tuna, canned beans from Singapore and put it in my checked luggage and bring it to China?
Will the custom at China take it away?

THANKS!

I think it should be fine, but why you need to bring those over? They don't sell canned food there?

Most of the time people are more concerned with what comes out of China rather than what gets in. Just saying..

Re: Can I bring canned food in my checked luggage from SG to CHINA?

if you check their china customs website and not bringing anything prohibited, is ok. but a bit odd to bring canned food leh. most ppl just buy food in china cos its cheaper to eat china food.

besides, the whole point of travel is to experience the other place. which includes their food.

Re: Can I bring canned food in my checked luggage from SG to CHINA?

It does seem a bit weird to bring canned food to China.
The food there is fresh, cheap and good.
There are so many canned food in China too.
The only time I brought along canned food was to give as gifts to the tour guide and driver. I brought 2 tins of abalone.
Those folks in Sichuan rarely got to enjoy seafood.
They were so pleased with the gift, and their service level was fantastic.
They went all the way out to help us get good bargains throughout the trip.
