cannot anyhow visit a grave?

I was planning to visit my great-grandparents' tombstones after so many years. I told my mum to reveal the location, but she said cannot anyhow visit a grave. Something like, cannot alone go, muz go with a kin of the deceased, then got a certain time frame to visit, den they need to do certain things in order for me to pay my respects to them...

is it true? got rules imposed when visiting a grave?

Re: cannot anyhow visit a grave?

not really, but its just basic respect like how you call your friends when you are going to their house .
of course you have to bring things over to the grave , to give them something to eat .

Re: cannot anyhow visit a grave?

For me... i guess they have their reason but just not sure what is it...
probably using such saying is just avoiding us to visit the "Grave"..

Of cos.. visiting "them" proper mannner must followed..but somehow they (parent) just reject...
therefore until today.. i don't know where my grandfather located... damn...

Probably best to respect what we cant see...

That said there are graveyard caretakers who keep the area clean, even in the wee hours, and from what i heard they operate alone.

i am thinking that she is fooled by the wrong things that she could neglect the grave of her great grand parents and leave them to company the wild grass and dried leafs. would u think they would be angry and upset? if she believe in spirits the more she should clean up because, ghost of relatives protect their family members and watch over them.

well, the only timing is evening or night time that you don't visit the grave cos u will lost your way.

Re: cannot anyhow visit a grave?

not really that you can't go to graveyard. your parents may worry that you may offend some spirits if you didn't observe certain rules (pantan in malay). other than that, snakes are often found in those area, you may get bitten by them and could be fatal. don't go there alone, you might not know the hidden dangers as it is a deserted place.

Re: cannot anyhow visit a grave?

Hmmz I make my yearly visit to my grandma's grave at the christian cemetery with my entire family when they decide everyone is free, so I think that's fine.

No idea bout other types of beliefs though.
