No, but I still don't see the clear reasoning behind the minimum age for driving license and the increasing number of cars on the road?
One of the causes for problems of too many cars on the road is that the public transport system is just way too problematic. MRTs and buses don't always come on time, if not, its always too crowded. Taxis are way too expensive. Therefore, people switch to using cars, which leads to a massive increase in car ownership and a massive jam everywhere

Everywhere is jam pack nt just during peak hrs la. u c CTE everyday 12 midnite also jam. So am trying to say that everywhere any time there r many vars on the road. During normal hr when i go out skirt of city to park also gt problem many place is full so almost full.
Damn it SG no. of cars its increase like .... True that nw adays there r more n more rich ppl around.
Or izzit there r too many ppl in SG over flooded by foreigner??? | if i am not wrong.. age of 16.. dun even thik of taking lesson la.. then y 16 year old can drive on road?
the car number increase.. the onli solution for u is not to drive.. leave home early to prevent late for work...
i saw some tread about upping the COE price / install ERP and etc....
if the government were to do tis... again we would have ppl complainting that the government wans to make money out of us...
i agree tat the driving skill of sg ppl is not tat good and i can back for tis...and of coze as far as i can think of... by upping the failure rate for TP is one of the solution and also installing more ERP gantries if u guys agrees on tat la... sure got ppl will KP at government saying government wans to make $$ de la..
the most easiest solution is tat.. u cannot tahan the jam? dun drive lor..
Quote: "If you can't move the mountian towards you, you move yourself toward the mountain"
i hopes tis help..

I'm riding bike so i have no problem with jam but sometimes i do realise impatient drivers jeopardise riders lives. Some will do sudden lane change, some will purposely close up the gap for bikes to go through .Well my friend working in LTA told me cars are increasing steadily on the road so yeah expect a much worse situation in times to come.

Total SGC$: 927.64 | Re: Cars on the road Actually I have a few suggestions...
1) Heavy Vehicles / Goods Vehicles / Lorries / Trucks / Trailers / Prime Movers, etc.
All heavy vehicles or goods vehicles that has a speed limit (the black sticker) should be permanently banned from entering town / Orchard cordon at all times.
They should also be banned from using expressways during the morning and evening rush hours (e.g. bus lane hours) on working days. Fine them gao gao, revoke driver's and business licence if caught on expressways during rush hours.
2) K-Po Drivers
Singaporeans have a very bad habit... Everytime the other direction has a breakdown or accident, people will slow down and "rubber neck", or kaypo... causing a jam... Trees / shrubs / planted should be planted at the centre dividers of expressways should be at least 2.5m to 4.5m high for the whole length of the expressway and so thick that you cannot see over the other side. If too expensive, just cover the centre divider with those corrugated zinc plates that we use on construction sites... lagi cheaper...
3) Make Public Transport Faster, Better, Cheaper.
If public transport is really that good as they say it is, people will willingly give up cars. But the truth is, it's far from even half as good as they say it is. If people have to squeeze with FTs, wait for more than 30mins and yet still pay ever-increasing fares for crap service, is it any wonder that people would rather buy cars than to suffer every morning and evening?
4) Expand expressways, downwards.
Currently the North-South (CTE) and East-West (PIE and ECP) are stretched beyond capacity. There are plans to build a North-South Expressway tunnel from AMK to Marina Downtown. I say, since we're so good at tunnelling. How about building a tunnel system from the residential estates in the east, to the industrial estates in the west? Deep tunnels, going lower than the sewage, water and electricity and MRT lines. Go in Bedok, come out Jurong Town Hall and vice versa. No exits in the middle. Those who wanna go town or CBD, use the traditional expressways. |
