Catholics, help?

What does the church say about contraceptives? I heard it's a mortal sin.. But, did the pope say it's better than abortion or smth? I don't quite understand the article, much less know if it's credible.. (This is my first post, they refuse to let me add a link, I'll add the link in a reply)

Well, I'm just wondering something. I think it's alright if married couples want to be intimate by engaging in sex acts. I don't see anything wrong in this. I think that if they already have children, and just have sex as a form of bonding between the couple, condoms should be allowed right? I mean, are they supposed to totally abstain from sex if they don't want children? That would be quite sad right?

Besides, who made this a mortal sin? It's not stated anywhere in the bible right? So, is it ''man made"?

And I thought, onanism was a sin, because God's will was disobeyed? And if condoms were stopping God's will, but God's will was for the girl to get pregnant, wouldn't fate make it leak anyway?

I'm not questioning or criticizing the Catholic rules in anyway. I'm just wondering if sex for intimacy is permissible within marriage, and would contraception a then, be a sin?

The church teaches that the purpose of sexual intimacy is for the conceiving of children. You can still enjoy physical intimacy, but contraceptives are definitely no no. With care and planning a Catholic couple can still have a rewarding sex life with their spouse without necessarily having to bear a whole passel of children.

I figure because there exists form of family planning like "Billing Method" (i think its called that) that presents the same probability for preventing pregnency (95% success rate) as compared to condoms.

Personally, if I can get a 95% chance of not making wife pregnent without a condom, then why use one if its a 95% chance with a condom anyway.

Well.. If the female has an irregular cycle, would it still be possible for her to use the rhythm method?

Yes certainly, but the window would obviously be smaller.

There are apps on itunes and google play that will help you work out your fertile period if you don't know how to work it out for people with irregular cycles.

Never heard of the Billing Method. But i think the most common/endorsed method is the Rhythm method. But you will never get 95% chance with that. A condom is much safer. But I believe it is forbidden by the Catholic faith.

Whatever you might hear the clergy say, the church teaches no - no to contraceptives and lusts.
