Total SGC$: 865.15 | Cephalotus follicularis Commonly known as Albany Pitcher Plant....
Small plant which can form a carpet of pitchers without any leaves!!
Leaves are grown in winter and springs...
Not easy to grow but very rewarding!!

Total SGC$: 865.15 | Re: Cephalotus follicularis That is World Farm. World Farm recently brought in Cephalotus from Cameron... The clones from Cameron tend to have leaves throughout the year, whereas Australian clones are far better, without leaves and a carpet of pitchers... But still it is a nice alternative as Australian cultivars are much much harder to get.
My members from Green Culture Singapore have been snapping up the stocks from World Farm too.. Better act fast when the shipment arrives!

Total SGC$: 865.15 | Re: Cephalotus follicularis It would be best if you start out with other carnivorous plants... Cephalotus is not very suitable cos its extremely fussy and with slight difference from their preferred growing conditions, it will just die away not giving you a chance to revive it.
If you are determined to start out growing them, it would be best if you find out more information about them, from books and websites. Get many of them... cos many will die out eventually...

Total SGC$: 865.15 | Re: Cephalotus follicularis Cephalotus is not very fussy with temperature... As long as the roots are kept cool, the plants will do well... This can be achieved by potting them in oversized pots and the temperature of the potting media will be kept to the minimum...
My growing temperature is around 25-32 degrees..

Total SGC$: 25.00 | Re: Cephalotus follicularis Hey i bought some cephalotus from world farm and seem to be doing well for abt 2 weeks.
Any precautions? I heard this plant is evergreen so there is no need for dormancy right?
also how do you manage to keep medium temp low.
My cephalotus also sorta became big for the pot so placed it in a bigger pot around 40 ×20 with some other cps. 2 droseras, pinguicula and the cephalotus.
I think putting the pinguiculas together was a bad move. |

I think putting the pinguiculas together was a bad move. | Cephalotus need draining soil and cool medium to grow well. It's a brave move to repot it, as such plants are extremely fragile and fussy about repotting. Droseras are bog carnivorous plants and they need very wet media, which really contradicts Cephs' preferred draining media. What kind of potting media did you use?
Cephalotus do not need any dormancy at all.. Post a picture of your setup to share!

Total SGC$: 25.00 | Re: Cephalotus follicularis i used sphagnum moss and the cephs seem to be doing ok but the droseras started producing these white spot like things so sprayed some fungicide and it killed some of the traps but the plant itself is doing ok and producing new leaves. |
