Chen began her acting career in 1985 with the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation after completing the drama training course. During that period she was best known for her role as "Miss Ai-Yo-Yo" (哎哟哟老師) in the Singapore Chinese drama series Good Morning, Sir! (早安老师), which earned her a "Most Unforgettable TV Character" Award in Star Awards 2003. Her character was also voted the most memorable character at MediaCorp Channel 8's 45th anniversary special in 2008 and the top 5 most memorable characters poll at the Star Awards 2007 anniversary special celebrating 25 years of Chinese language drama in Singapore.

In 2003, Chen also took the Best Actress Award for her role in Holland V for her memorable role as the feisty Mo Wanwan. Beware: Rumour of Chen Li Ping getting fired by Mary Chia is online scam

Sponsored posts claiming that MediaCorp artiste Chen Li Ping has been sacked as Mary Chia’s ambassador have been making its rounds on social media, receiving a lot of attention and shares.

According to Daily Vanity, these posts claim that the reason for her being fired was because she revealed to the media the “real” reason for her weight loss: By taking slimming pills called Garcinia Cambogia.
The rumour appears to originate from a article uploaded onto a website that appears to be masquerading as the official website of health and fitness magazine Women's Health.

It bears the same masthead, but the link differs from the official Women's Health website, reports AsiaOne.

Mary Chia has since clarified on their Facebook page and debunked the scam. This is what the company said:

"Clarification: Mary Chia would like to clarify and advise online users not to be taken in by this online scam syndicate. Ms Chen Liping has never consumed any slimming pills from any source in the course of her weight loss journey.

"She achieved her weight loss through the weight management program which the Company customized for her, as well as through adopting a healthy diet. Please do not be deceived by these fraudulant sponsored posts by unknown web merchants.

"The consumption of unknown pills and substances from shady sources may contain ingredients that may prove harmful.

"Please help us share this with your friends to prevent any online users from being taken in by this scam."

In 2013, Women's Health posted a warning on its website that it is aware that several websites are unlawfully using the Women's Health logo to sell diet supplements and pills, and it does not endorse these products.

"We are pursuing all of our legal rights in order to attempt to stop this type of unlawful use of the Women's Health brand logo, etc. In the meantime, and as a warning to all of our loyal customers, we recommend that you not purchase from the companies.

"Several sources are reporting that, if you provide your credit card information to the companies selling these pills and supplements, your credit card will be charged indefinitely, and you will not be able to cancel," the warning said.

Here's how Chen Li Ping plans to slim down after putting on 6kg for new role

MediaCorp Artiste Chen Li Ping, looks like she has been gaining weight again – but this time, Bridget Jones-style!

The accomplished and committed actress is gallantly putting on the pounds for her new role in the 2015 Chinese New Year drama《百岁大吉》“Good Luck”.

Ala Renee Zellweger who reportedly gained more than 10 kilograms (kg) to play the lovable Bridget Jones back in 2001, Li Ping has gained 6 kg to fulfill her new role as an owner of a restaurant, Lin Xiao Zhen; a single mum trying to keep her restaurant business afloat while battling her own gambling addiction.

“Having to gain weight after I have worked hard with Mary Chia to lose it is quite a sacrifice!” says Li Ping. After signing on as Mary Chia’s brand ambassador in 2013, she has been undergoing slimming treatments under the 360 Degrees Complete Transformation Skin and Body program.

Along with that, she has also made a conscious effort to make changes to her eating habits under the guidance of Mary Chia’s slimming experts.

“I had my qualms when I took on this job as I know I have to put on weight again to fit the image of this role. I have been enjoying my new-found slimmer physique and feeling so good and healthy after dropping 12 kg over a two month period since being on Mary Chia’s 360 programme, and I really want to maintain it.

"But I love my job at the same time so I spoke to Mary Chia about it. Not only did they gave me their blessings, they assured me that I do not need to worry as they would be able to help me lose weight healthily after filming wraps. I am so happy and assured that after filming ends, I can continue to undergo treatments and get back to where I am now, and even better.

That brings great confidence Li Ping also shares that she has reverted to her pre-Mary Chia days eating habits, emphasizing that it is only for now – in order to put on the required weight Earlier in August this year, an online scam website accused Li Ping of having consumed diet pills marketed by the company as the cause for her weight loss – this rumour was subsequently dispelled when both the actress and the Management of Mary Chia Beauty & Slimming Specialist came forward to clarify the false rumour.

Li Ping is still Mary Chia’s celebrity brand ambassador and she credits only Mary Chia for her weight loss results. As part of Mary Chia’s 32nd Anniversary celebrations, the brand is launching its “Real Women, Real Transformation” campaign – true to cause, this campaign will see Mary Chia sponsoring selected candidates to go through a two month sponsored weight loss transformation program.

One of the selected candidates is Ms Rose Lai, a 41 year old mother of five who stands at 1.58 meters and weighs 85 kilos. Rose shares her motivation for signing up for this transformation program, “Chen Li Ping has been my favorite actress since her Aiyoyo days, and when she played Mo Wan Wan in Holland Village – her on-screen size was similar to mine.

"Seeing my favorite star being of similar weight and physique, I was able to console myself that all is good since Li Ping can be of this weight, and still be accepted and adorable. In fact, for the last 18 years, I have been telling myself that as long as I can find clothes to fit me, it is fine.

"However, since I saw how Li Ping has lost so much weight with help from Mary Chia and she looks so fabulous and healthy now, this has motivated me to participate in this sponsored transformation and I hope that Mary Chia can help me achieve a similarly successful personal transformation!”

Following the completion of her filming, Chen Li Ping will join Ms Rose Lai as well as the two other selected ladies for the “Real Women, Real Transformation” program, Ms Jessie Lim and Ms Elyn Lim in battling the bulge and slimming down the healthy way through Mary Chia’s 360 Complete Transformation Body.

Keep up with the latest updates from Chen Li Ping and the other Mary Chia “Real Women, Real Transformation” participants as they kick start their 360 transformation to good health and increased confidence!
