CNG or Petrol?

Currently does not drive and did not have license as license have been banned due to some mistake... =)

Anyway, has anyone heard about the CNG gas which is install in certain vehicle already? Anyone has installed and has any experience to share? Petrol is increasing and CNG gas might be a good choice. If your car don't have CNG install, will you install one?

Any pros and cons about CNG gas?

Re: CNG or Petrol?

Dun think will install CNG ba the car backside no space to put 1 tank inside. I sharing car with dad and I prefer petrol.
When driving don't floor acc, let it roll to stop when u see traffic light is red and when moving off, try to keep the rpm around 2k or below. Change engine oil every 10k then check tyre pressure every week: 15" air pressure around 220 - 240.
Haha. I don't care people behind de. Want to choing just overtake and i will slow down for u to cut. Vroom so fast for what? few hundred m must stop liao.
Auto trans 1.5 FC is around 15.5 ~ 16+ / L

it's strange isnt it? The Research Octane Number is higher but why the loss in high end power? The reason is due to the fact that the ECU has to remap itself to retard ignition firing timings in order to accomodate CNG. The engine wasn't designed from the onset to utilise CNG so dont blame the engine.

On another note, higher RON fuel has no real tangible benefits whatsoever in the Singapore context because it is meant for high performance cars with extremely high compression ratios. In fact, RON 95 is actually premium petrol contrary to most motorists' thinking that it is a normal grade petrol.

Re: CNG or Petrol?

so far i heard only of web claims about kits that supposedly allow your car to run on water. If i live in the states where cars are dirt cheap and can be had as low as a few grand, i might experiment to find out. But here in sg as for now, i remain sceptical.

Extracted this from here..

The first reason for the high safety rating is the fact that CNG has an ignition temperature of about 600°C (which is approximately three times higher compared to petrol). The danger of an explosion, deflagration or a fire is much lower than compared with a petrol or a diesel vehicle. Secondly, CNG is lighter than air. Therefore, if there was a leak, gas would simply rise up and quickly dissipate into the atmosphere.
