Hi i am planning to sign on with the army after getting my diploma which is next year. I want to be a commando but I do not know what the training is like and the working hour. And what is the toughest training in commando? Any ex-commando or current one here?
Advice and information would be greatly appreciated.

If gahment decrease the pay and bonus for regular you think anyone will bother to sign on?

If you really want to be a commando, you have to go through a specialised BMT in Commando Training Institute. Before that, you have to pass through many aptitude and specialised test that would evaluate your physical and mental condition before they even consider you to become a Commando.
Once inside, you're subjected to quite a lot of torture. Expect to work long hours, even to the wee of the night. Physically, you would be pushed to beyond your limits with the amount of crazy Physical Training and random crap you have to go through.
That's just BMT though
After BMT, you would be put into one of the 5 various vocations: Leaders, Demolition, Signals, Medics or Weapons. Each vocation would be specially trained in that particular vocation, and after a 3 month vocation exercise, you MUST be prepared to use your skills in any situation when needed.
If you're a Leader, there is a chance that you may go over to OCS and become a Commando Officer. However, only the creme a la creme gets to go OCS.
Then, comes the specialty course for Commandoes, the much needed Basic Parachuting Course
After which, everyone else would cross over to the main Commando Camp, where you would continue your Basic Commando Training. Expect even more crap, as your OCs, CSMs, Commanders, etc would literally torture you both physically and mentally. Say good bye to your weekends as you do many weekend duties and extras as you see your buddies book out on Saturday afternoon. You can sell your PSP and MP3 and whatever comfort items you have, because you would never touch it for 6 months. And be prepared to get whacked upside down out in the field and in camp.
Ensure you pass your SOC and get your IPPT Gold, to ensure you won't get posted out. Complete all field trainings and especially Brunei. Then, be prepared to stay awake for the 72KM route march, which would cause you to lose your sleep for 24 hours
Just as you thought your sanity would be gone, you would be presented the coveted Red Beret in front of your family, friends/girlfriend. You would swell with pride as the Beret touches your head, and the feeling is enough to make grown men cry. And you would be come physically and mentally stronger, able to take all sorts of punishments in life
And just when you thought everything was over, get ready to do Standby duties, where you wait hands and foot for 7 days at the mercy of MINDEF. Any trouble that needs immediate attention (and if you're suay enough to be the Company on Standby) you would be activated to attend to the problem, even at the wee hours in the morning.
Since you're in the Poly batch, your 2nd year in camp would be spent training soley for ATEC, where you would spend a month overseas fighting mock missions to prove that 1 CDO BN is THE best in the SAF. Any failure is unacceptable, so every mission must be done swiftly, executed correctly, with no room for failure.
You fail, you die. Badly. Literally
After ATEC, you would ORD in peace, in a parade where you would be extoled for serving the nation well and bringing glory to the Battalion. Congrats, soldier. You have now completed NS, and come out of it as a much better person, equipped to tackle all sorts of problems that is possible
