Do you keep a journal?

I find that writing in a journal every day helps me learn to write better. If I'm studying one language or even writing in my native language, the daily practice of getting words on paper helps.

Re: Do you keep a journal?

I do keep a journal. I try to write in it every day. I sometimes respond to news stories I read. I also practice writing better sentences. I like the idea for using it to practice another language.

I also try to practice daily. It's the best way to achieve that.

Daily practice is the very best. Being consistent adds up over a year's time. I like the idea of responding to news articles. You can even do that to online articles that catch your eye.

Re: Do you keep a journal?

I do keep a journal, but not as much as I used to since I wrote short articles everyday. This is the way to sharpen my English skill, as well as my writing skills. I try to keep a journal about all the memories so I can look them back when I feel down or something. It is something I can write down whatever I want and keep it as part of my life journey.

Re: Do you keep a journal?

I most certainly keep a journal; more so to organize my thoughts. I think it is quite inspiring to use a journal for language education. It will be effective to physically write out what you're trying to learn. Therefore, you will be able to see your progression as you improve. I am a visual learner; this seems like a very effective method. It would be good to go through your journal, and see where you can improve. Use your own journal as a tool to teach and guide you.

Re: Do you keep a journal?

Every time I decide to write in a personal journal, I tend to stop after a few weeks. I don't have much consistency and most of the time, I don't finish what I started. Another reason why I don't write in journals is because I can't be fully open to writing what I want.

I don't have much privacy in my home, so I can't be fully honest with myself when I write down very personal details and information about my day. It's hard to me to put the truth on paper because people might see it. I'm a very secretive person.

THAT. It is so tedious to open it up and write consistently. Sometimes I just lose interest completely. Also, quite a number of times the situations and events worth writing about are those which I have no wish to recall. Maybe it's awkward or embarrassing or enraging, just don't feel like writing it.
