I notice many young Singaporeans love Taiwanese culture, including Taiwan variety shows, Taiwanese pop culture, Taiwanese food, Taiwanese drama series (idol shows)， Taiwan in general.
These are called 哈台族 . Other groups include 哈韩 (love korean culture) and 哈日 (love Japanese culture).
What are you? Are you a 哈台族？ Or you simply love the local Singaporean culture.

哈台族 for their variety shows because I can understand the language to make sense of their humour.
哈日 for their drama serials because it is not very lengthy, just 10-12 episodes and they are able to tell their stories. Not to mention, their music as well and fashion. haha i am a Jpop fan.

I'm 哈台 i like to watch Taiwan variety shows eg 康熙来了，女人我最大.
And also Chinese is my best language spoken and written, so practically i understand their humor including the Hokkien ones!
Including reading Traditional Chinese although i don't know how to write.
哈日，哈韩 half half.
In terms of music.
But i'm not into it because i'm not good in Korean and Japanese.

i enjoy japanese music, i study japanese language but i wont say i'm one of those 哈日 person because i still want to be myself and be comfortable in my skin...
i've seen people who try to transform themselves into taiwanese, koreans or japaneses and i just find that disturbing... is that simply a sign that they are uncomfortable with their own skin and they just want to be someone else?
admiration and appreciation for a culture is different from trying to be someone else that you're not born/meant to be...
to me, being true to myself, living my standard is good enough...
