I don't get recognised for my efforts. Sucks to be a student in SG.

I think, I'm starting to hate studying.
I think its really annoying when you actually do work, but your parents just nvr sees it.
They dun even approve of my study habits.
Because I find peace at night, and I'm more...'cool' at night, thus i usually do my homework at night.
If I touch homework/books(anything study related) in the afternoon, I have the urge to tear them apart after some time.
I get really frustrated.
So I nap in the afternoon, work at night.
I know its unhealthy, but, at least i wun feel as pissed.
No, at night, I'm all good, I dun even feel pissed.

But my dad, always catches me using the computer.
He nvr sees me studying(doing work).
And when he sees it(at night, after 1+), he gets mad at me for doing hw so late.
He just ruin my mood, everything for doing homework and stuff.
To him, I NEVER EVER do my work one.

Oh, another thing.
Why I can't feel any stress at all?!
When my Mid Year Exams were coming, I wasn't stressed at all.
I dun usually do well, but yeah, i just let myself rot and die in the exams.
Even my I see my friends mug, i just heck care.
And when we finish the paper, I always end up being the one unable to complete the paper, dunno how to do, sure fail.
I can't feel any stress.
Even if my mum or dad nags, I just brush them off.
Why?
Aren't students supposed to feel stressed when tests and exams are coming?
Do you all think I should see a shrink or smth..
Or have i given up on studying?
I can't wait to burn my books.
They are the worst things ever invented.
But, I like self help books.
So maybe, its just the bloody textbooks. D:

try to talk it out to your mom about it
tell her how u feel
and explain and convince her about your studying timings.

my dad was like yours until i told my mom about it
he even off the main switch while i was doing my assignments.
and i had to re-do it from the beginning.

huh..uh how old is TS?
if you arent very old.its normal not to get the stress.

well..everyone here is a student in SG,
i dont think its fair to everyone too..right?
its for your own benefit anyw,what you learn or do not learn.
what becomes of you,if you studied or not.
its your choice.

last time pri 3 or pri 4 i get top in class , in the end my mum say , aiya lousy sch , lousy class get top also nvm one , after that i dun even intend to study liao

ok first part i can see that u prefer to study at night, i usually do so too... Maybe try talking to your parents abt it..

Second part, not feeling stress? Not taking studies seriously>? Sucks to be a student in SG? U foreigner?

tell your parents that its actually natural that teenagers behave like that...coz our sense of time are naturally screwed...

i forgot where i read it...but if i'm not wrong its only natural..

Hi buddy,
You're on the same plight as me. Just that i somehow prefer not to let them see im studying.
I don't like them commenting when im writing chi/eng compo esp.
They will review it and say "What a lousy piece of work. DONT YOU EVEN KNOW HOW TO SPELL __________"
or other morale-lowering comments which i really cannot stand.

Don't really care them. Best is to study in school, which is what i did. Hang around with a few studious one and stay back after school .

i think many of us here feels the same way as you. =/

but i think i more jialat, not only i dont feel stress, i dont even do my own homework.

but at least i paid attention in class.

anyway, dont just prove to your parents that you are in fact studying, kinda pointless imo, you should try to let everyone know that ur trying your best, study hard and get good grades, that's priority ;D

How come all my friends always damn stress one?
And, one thing I really do not understand is, we are learning so much redundant stuff that we are not even going to make use when we work next time.
Unless, im going to be a mathematician, why the hell do I have to learn, erm, logarithms?!
I do know that some topics is essential, but what about those just simply wastes our time?

For me I can't study at home so i always study at school.
And my parents will always nag at me for not studying at home.

Just do your best and let the grades show itself. Then your
parents will know that you actually studied very hard.

About not feeling stress during exams , maybe you're too stress to feel
the stress. You gotta push yourself real hard to achieve good results.

Yes, its always these demoralising comments that gets to me.
Like, yeah, I've gotton really good results before too, but when you flunk one, they remember it for life.
When you ace one, its just expected. Dun really need to praise one la. that kinda thiing.
Doesnt help in motivating me to study at all.

I'm the same as TS, night seems to be the best time to study to me, totally peace ..
And my dad always whine that I overused comp and stuff, but at least in the end I does show some achievement in academic to prove him wrong

Haha, no. I'm singaporean.
i tried talking to my parents about me studying at night, but they simply say "NO."
They just totally reject this thing.
They say I'm supposed to change and study in the afternoon to be like a normal student.
And its not like I haven tried studying in the afternoon.
but really, most if not all of the time, i just end up puilliing my hair and banging my head on the wall lol.
okay, not really rot, but, like, I study because I dun want to flunk it, THAT BADLY. like get a 0 on my paper or smth. I keep having the mentality that, if I fail it this time, theres always the next time for improvement.
And its not gg away.
Are there ways to induce stress into yourself?

Yeah, not that I like them seeing. but should they at least believe me that i have at least the decency to do my homework?
OMGOSH, yeah! Morale-lowering comments simply kills my mood to study.
And when its broken, I find it very hard to cool myself down and sit down and start studying again.
Or when i'm studying(trying to do so), my dad will come in and lecture me on all the bad effects of sleeping late etc, wring body clock, and how I will end up being a loser in the society if I dun study.
CANNOT SEE I STUDYING MEH?!
Yeup, knowing that i did really badly for my MYE, I want to start a study group of some sort. So that at least I revise regularly.

Haha, I will try my best to finish my homework if I can though there quite a few times where im unable to complete them..
Yeah. I really do pay attention in class! I can't understand why people sitting at the back of the class making so much noise always manage to do so much better than me.

Yup, if I study outside in the afternoon, it isnt so bad...
haha, my parents scold me for doing hw outside cos lie..they will say," AT HOME CANNOT STUDY AH?! Must go out waste money issit?!"
