Yeah... I think it depends on the destination you are going to too. But I don't think there are any airport dress code.

I've seen many people wearing just plain t-shirt with shorts and slippers as if they are going down to lim kopi. As long as you got your passport and air ticket, you can wear whatever you want.

i once tried wearing a shorts with slippers and board a plane.

the feeling was great. it's nice to be able to take off your slippers while on flight. =X

it might sound unhygienic but the feeling is great.

haha. dont think so. just wear what you're comfortable with.
last year i went to cambodia, its a night flight. and i wore tee-shirt, sweatpants and sandals.
cause cambodia is quite a conservative country, so my friends and i all wear until like cover everywhere.
so it depends on which country you're going too.

Dress code only applies if your part of staff. Eg : Your mom/dad works in the Airlines. My parents works in an airline so yea , I've got to wear semi formal - No jeans , No bermudaes , No T-shirt ect. Have to wear pants and shirt. This is if I'm going up a plane though. If I'm going there to eat I can't be arsed with dress codes. LOL

Default Re: Dress code in airports?

right..

basically runs down to a few things...

1) Which airport (what country the airport is in)

2) final destination (are u going to the airport only with no flight or boarding a plane?)

for 1) there is no dress code for singapore, as long as u follow singapore laws (no nudity etc) and if u DO break the laws, just don't get caught. so yea, just wear whatever you like and whatever you want to changi/seletar airport like as if you going to a shopping mall.

however, if you are going to airports in other countries, it would be better if you check their laws first and follow accordingly like middle east / muslim nations etc. and that's about it.

for 2) this would involve entering the transit/departure/arrival areas and boarding a plane for the purpose of flight. If you're the pilot or crew, wear ur uniform (duh). If you're a passenger, you would have to abide by the laws of the country you're leaving and the destination country as well as the airline's policy.

For example, you could be asked to disembark if fellow passengers complain to the stewards that your F*** YOU t-shirt is offensive. Or asked to cover up a "GO TO HELL" tattoo on your head and if you cannot cover it with a hoodie or cap, you would be require to do so and board another plane.

Also, if you're travelling from singapore to say, Iran (for example sake), and you're a female, it would be advisable to also basically cover up as per the laws of Iran at the time I am writing this (29th June 2009) - i dunno what revolutions are gonna happen there tmrw.

so.. i guess that basically answers it.

To prevent in air dehydration or having numbness of feets, many airline coy actually prefer the customers to wear simple and relax.

I sit 1st class or economy, also in tee, boardies and birkis, machiam like chow ah beng when I spoke to the SQ air stewardness.

Can't be bothered to impress anyone.
