Driving from SG to Thai

so around end of july I'm planning my trip with friends to go to Ko Phi Phi island.
I was wondering how long does it take to get there. What are the requirement to enter Malaysia and Thai. Can I take a rent a car from SG to Thai?. Don't wanna fly there cuz its expensive and plus we wanna drive to see the great scenery.

Passport, make sure you're not carrying anything in the vehicle that could get you arrested .

Re: Driving from SG to Thai

But if you bring parang like workingtoohard suggested, you might get arrested at checkpoints :<

Money ? Water ? You gonna need water if you driving a looong time :>

Buy from NTUC 4 1.5L PET bottles of water, and maybe a few snacks along the way, at intervals you can stop by local cafeterias and makan a bit; so i think you'll need a bit of SGD, a bit of MYR and TBT !

Re: Driving from SG to Thai

buy parang when you enter Malaysia, throw it away before entering Thailand? xD only use for protection against Malaysia's highway pirates anyway

Any Car, Local car rental company insurance coverage wont cover you to drive to thailands.
You need to look for international car rental company such as hertz, Avis, etc.

Because from what I heard, it's better to get SUV or something.

Depend on how many member are going together. I know driving to Thailands is more costly than taking budget airline. From singapore to thailands border is about 1000km.
How many drivers you got it? Rental of the car can cost alot. The petrol consumption is depend on the type of car and how fast you travel.

lol 1000km..
if the petrol price on average is $1.50 per litre.
the car on average can travel 10km per litre.
so the petrol price will be (1000/10)*1.5 = approx. $150 for petrol.
come back another $150 = $300

car rental approx 100 per day for normal sedan.
if rent for 4 days = 400 dollar liow
haven't including the additional price to add for driving over to malaysia and thailand.

total travelling $700.

if your sedan got 5 people,
divide then, 1 person about $140++

i think buy air ticket more worth ba lol.
save time of travelling and hassles.
