First "What Is a Digital SLR Camera?"

If you've been wondering "what is a digital SLR?

" I'm not all that surprised.
Many consumers are much more familiar with compact digital cameras, since these models have flooded the marketplace.
Like cell phones, it's hard to walk down the street these days without seeing someone snapping a photo. Digital SLR cameras are far less common, and up until 2005 were really only used by professionals.
The good news is that the price of digital SLRs keeps falling and many are competitive now with the high-end compact cameras.
This also means that many new consumers are hearing about these cameras and aren't quite sure what they can do.

So what is a digital SLR? Let's find out.

SLR Defined
SLR is an acronym: it stands for Single Lens Reflex.
Now you know what SLR stands for but that doesn't really help answer the question, does it?

Let's define further:

With an SLR camera, you see exactly what the lens sees
You can change the lens on a digital SLR
Digital SLRs have large image sensors that produce high-quality photos
An SLR has a near-zero lag time, and is ideal for action photography
Bottom line? Digital SLR cameras are versatile.
You can take photos of everything from sleeping kittens to race cars and you'll never be limited by your camera.

Canon Digital SLR Cameras

Before you hunt down the best Canon digital SLR to satisfy all of your photographic needs, ask yourself this: how much are you willing to pay?

Canon digital SLR cameras fall squarely into 4 groups:
consumer, semi-professional, professional and über-professional.

As you jump to the next level of cameras, the price jumps accordingly.
With the jump in price, you also get a lot more features that the pros expect but can be overwhelming to beginners and even intermediate photographers. It makes no sense to pay for a slew of features that you'll never use.

Consumer Cameras

There's no denying it:

Canon's consumer digital SLR cameras are immensly popular.
Canon is the clear leader when it comes to the digital SLR category, and their cameras always generate a lot of buzz in the professional reviews and user forums.

Canon's dominance in the digital SLR market started with the EOS Digital Rebel, and Canon continues to upgrade their line or digital Rebel cameras.

Now you can get your hands on the Rebel XT (350D), the Rebel xTi (400D), the Rebel XS (1000D) and the Rebel XSi (450D). Both the Rebel xTi and XS are part of the many 10 megapixel digital SLR cameras while the XSi is one of a limited number of 12 megapixel digital SLRs.

Semi-Professional Cameras

The cameras in this category are for die-hard action photographers.
The major advantage that they offer over the Rebel XT and xTi is an increase in shooting speed, allowing you to rip through photos in seconds. However, neither one of these cameras features the same number of megapixels as the xTi.
If you enjoy taking portraits and still life (where ultra-fast response is not required), you don't need one of these cameras - stick with the Rebel and save yourself the cash.

If you have already used this Camera and ready to move on to the next series of Cameras such as 40D, 50D, 5D, 5D MK II , you do not need this guide.

anw those sub title u might wan to change to other colour + abit bigger text and bold.. because they look almost the same.

How about sharing us how all the lenses work? and are the shutter speed? aperture? it would be helpful if you included that anyway thanks

ah if you want to know i could write it up.........i just realised i couldnt edit my thread...T_T
i will talk to Admin about this, if he could let me to adjust my thread

but i should tell you this, no matter i talk about lenses and how they work, unless you try it out for yourself it wont make sense, but i will do write the theory part!

1000D is not worth its money.... there is nothing different actually to 400D

meaning i dont think you should buy it, instead save a bit more and buy 450D instead.

just think of 1000D as a light camera that is no different from the 400D which came 2 years ago, only difference is that : SD card, change of battery and light body with live view screen ^^

that reminds me of the 5DMkII.
total epic excellence camera.
i managed to test out one of 'em (thks to my CCA teacher)
no wonder that it is so expensive.

i want to test too...but currently its price is 3k...korean...

go to their showroom and try?
i think they do put one set out for test.
the response and color reproduction is awesome.
and oh, the video taking is awesome too. XD. i think the video is even more awesome than what my video camera can take XD.
