Hi, upcoming would be an interesting Dota competition which provide chances for those who are new to the competitive scene. There will be a total of $3500 cash prizes to be given away. The best is this event take care of the interest give chances to participant of all walks and all levels. The more pro who have been ranked and are highly ranked qualified for the Goliath category groups. As for the rest, new or lower ranked will be playing in the David category groups. At the end, top winner of two groups will come to battle it out in the finals. However, the sweet deal is that they will already won some cash prize for topping their respective group. Updates: Map to be used confirmed to be DotA version 6.61b (should be fixed unless later version with bug fixes, if major changes the map should be fixed to allow team enough time for training), also manual registration opens at RSC cybercafe.

Why David vs Goliath?

"David vs Goliath" is an old time folklore that tell the story about a brave little man's battle against the giant. The little heroes is called David and the Giant, is non other than Goliath. This is a metaphor of how darkhorse teams will be battling against powerhouse teams in this new tournament series of ours. In the folklore, David prevails over Goliath. However in the world of DotaSG, the ending is both David and Goliath will win.

The idea of this event stem from the fact that we have received many feedbacks and requests from some of our regulars, we also observed that there is a need to help motivate emerging teams to work hard on improving their game skills. Eventually helping them to participate more frequently in competitive events and reach professional level down the road. With these in mind, we decided to create an environment where we can provide fighting chances for gamers of all levels, that could be a significant push for our DotA community to move up. Using ProPowerPlay ranking system as a gauge, we can then better justify and more appropriately separate the players by their performances in ProPowerPlay enabled events.

This event is a DotA 5v5 event, with 16 slots in each of the 4 group. 2 groups each for both David Category and Goliath Category. In total only 64 slots will be up for grabs. How to determine which category your team belongs to is simple.

If any groups are not filled and there are extreme demand from the other category, we will convert that particular groups category to cater to the demand. However, if all groups can be filled up according to their category, then there will be no conversion. Event when converted, the converted group's new category criteria will still have to met by teams.

David Category: Only team that have members with individual ProPowerPlay points not more than 1600 point or are new (unranked).

Goliath Category: Everyone else that does not fit into David Category. Mostly would be team that contain one or more higher ranked players.

The groups in categories stage will play in KO format till the top two winners emerge. 1st and 2nd winners from each category will win themselves cash prizes. On top of that the champion will be qualified to enter into the finals.
