Emath Graph help

Hi everyone! Today I tried some graph problem, the one where you have to plot the x and y. I have problems with these two types of question.
1. Find y when x=06 or the opposite. It seems my answer is always a little different from the answer sheet even.

2. Tangent when x=2. How big or small should the triangle be? my answer is always different from the answer sheet and i can't seem to find any indication of how you should draw the tangent.

Thanks for helping.

Re: Emath Graph help

1. I think what you meant was that the value you got for intersection of x=6 and the graph for y always differ? If the graph is a curve then make sure the curve is as smooth as possible. Nobody can help you with this especially for Os.

2. The triangle should be preferably a third of the page I guess. To draw a tangent for let's say x=2, use a compass with the needle fixated at the point on the graph where x=2 and draw two arcs on both side of the curve. Place a ruler and ensure the intersection points lie on the ruler and slowly move it to the point on the curve for x=2. It is quite hard to explain it here so why not ask your teacher?

1. I think for your answer to be accurate, your graph especially for a curve should have as many points as possible and you will need to ensure that it is a smooth curve. The shape of your graph must also be right.

2. The triangle should be at least 3/4 of your graph. U must know that a tangent can only touch a curve at only one point. This should be a rough guide on how to get your tangent. Don't worry so much about your answer, in O'levels, the market will give u a +-0.1 difference or 0.01 or 1..depending on the scale of the graph. More importantly, the marker is looking for the shape of your graph and that the tangent is only touching at only 1 point of the graph.

Re: Emath Graph help

Hi.

For GCE 'O' Level Mathematics, there will always be a question in Paper 2 that requires candidates to plot a graph and answer some questions, with reference to the graph that candidates have drawn. This includes drawing a tangent.

You have to ensure that your graph is smooth and the graph pass through all the points. You will also have to ensure that the tangent only touches the graph at one point (no intersection). In examinations, a small deviation is allowed.

All the best for your future endeavour.
