Re: ENGINEERING MATHS (POLY)

Not sure about A maths because i never take in secondary school but for diploma plus your gpa must be above 3 pointer to applied for it and not guarantee you can get unless your gpa is way higher. Extra certificate after you graduates from poly but have to take it for 2 times.

Re: ENGINEERING MATHS (POLY)

The very basics of amaths.
Some syllabus are not in amaths and will be new.
Don't worry, the concepts will be reviewed again for the benefit of those who didn't take amaths.

Darn simple. If you have done well in secondary school, you should expect getting A for both engineering mathematics 1&2. Engineering mathematics 3 is slightly harder but should not pose a problem if you do the tutorials.

Diploma plus, however, is a different thing.

Re: ENGINEERING MATHS (POLY)

uhh Engineering Maths...it's similar to A math with some JC standard Math as well.

For Diploma Plus, it'll look good in your portfolio but it's rather useless if it has nothing to do with what you want to do in the future =/ Like frozenone said your GPA has to be rather high. My engineering friend had like a GPA of 3.8 and he was the lowest in his class ><"

Re: ENGINEERING MATHS (POLY)

The basic of A maths

The trio Sin, cos, tan, matrics, probalility etc
Differentiation, intergration

Actually no need to revise one, its simple la for year 1

There are some new topics where you didn't learn for year 2 onwards.

Re: ENGINEERING MATHS (POLY)

there are 3 core maths modules in poly.
for NP, it's called eg1,eg2,em3.
for those who took amaths in sec sch and obtained distinction, can skip eg1.
diploma plus requirement is GPA 3.0 and above and obtained at least a B grade in EG2..but
all comes down to availability and by merit.
em3 has a lot to do with further calculus and new eng. maths. dip plus syllabus is = H2 maths.

hope ive cleared ur doubts

Re: ENGINEERING MATHS (POLY)

For SP, they recently increased the "difficulty" for Engineering Math, or any Math related subjects on the whole. By "difficulty", I mean that they made it tougher to get an A. This is in a bid to raise the standard of the modules. Having said that, Diploma Plus, as its name suggests, is a Plus. It is in no way comparable to a formal full-time Diploma. In fact, it is only comparable to a regular Certificate.
