Regardless if you like it or not, no matter how good your english is, the westerners will still recognize you as a chinese, and of cos, they would expect that you can speak your native language, which is mandarin.
Just like a french man can speak french and english, or a german, similarly.
i don't see why as a chinese, which population is about 3/4 of the world population, should abandone their own native language.

both english and chinese are important. any language that you pick up is always beneficial whether to give you an added advantage in work or to learn about another culture.

To me,
Learning a language is a blessing, knowing how to speak correctly is a bonus.
Having the chance to learn & speak that kind of feeling cant be describe using words.
Because i count myself lucky to be able to write and speak at the same time despite
other country kids that doesnt have the chance to learn or some of them didnt even noe there's such
language exist.

Haha I personally like chinese so yeah.
English is SO overrated.
okay idk la.
I think no matter what, one's mt is extremely impt no matter you're chi, malay,indian, or other races.

Maybe Chinese is not important to a lot people in SG but I think Chinese is important to me. One thing it's easier to score compared to those other subjects for exams as long as you're willing to go and memorise all the format, etc.
And if not for my Chinese, I think my L1R5 will be damn BIG cause my L1 is already C6.
Anyway, I enjoyed speaking Chinese more than English and I usually communicate with my friends in Chinese unless I can't translate that word from English to Chinese..
Furthermore, I only listen to Chinese songs and I think that Chinese words have more hidden meaning than English.  | |
