English muffins

Ingredients

1/4 cup WATER,WARM
1 tsp SUGAR,GRANULATED
2 1/2 tsp (or 1 packet) YEAST,ACTIVE,DRY

1/2 cup SCALDED MILK,WARM
3/4 cup WATER,WARM
1 tsp SALT
4 cups FLOUR, BREAD
3 Tbsp SHORTENING,SOFTENED


Method

To 1/4 cup warm water (no more than 110-F), stir in sugar and yeast. Let stand 10 minutes.

Scald milk and cool to lukewarm (no more than 110-F).
To lukewarm scalded milk, add 3/4 warm water (no more than 110-F),
salt and yeast mixture, mix well.

Add to 2 cups of flour in mixing bowl. Beat well.

Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk (about 1 hour.) in warm (80-F) area.

Add shortening (softened) and remaining 2 cups of flour.

Beat and knead well. Let rise again until doubled in bulk (about 50 minutes) in
warm (80-F) area.

Roll about 1/4-inch thick and cut out 12 pieces with a round 3 1/2-inch cutter.

Let rise 1 hour in warm (80-F) area or until very light.

Place muffins on buttered heated griddle or cast iron skillet (4 at one time) and fry
approximately 15 to 20 minutes over low heat, turning frequently.

Split, toast and serve with butter and jam or honey.


Makes 1 dozen un-split English muffins.

The ingredients clearly describe that it is really nice and should be awesome in taste.
Well I really like to you thread and encourage you about this. I must try to taste it.
