Registration to SGClub is free! We do insist that you abide by the following rules and policies detailed below.

Posting Guidelines & Rules

1. Be polite!! Do not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws. Debate and heated discussions are welcome, however posting rude, attacking, insulting, profane and uncalled for comments are not allowed.
   
   
2. No illegal content discussions like pirated goods and contraband items are allowed. No talk on gambling, smoking, pornographic talk or any other socially-frowned upon vices are allowed too.
   
   
3. Personal and character attacks are strictly prohibited. Calling another member by names like 'idiot', stupid, a**hole (even if not spelt out) or any other insulting references is of course not tolerated. We always try to encourage discussions and comments to be about the topic and NOT about the person making them. Disagree with another member's views by all means, but attack their views NOT their person no matter how much you wish to. Also, no creation of a thread dedicated to the attack or flaming of another member on SGC.
   
   
4. No offensive/insulting/damaging comments are to be made about RELIGION/ RACE/ NATIONALITY. There is a zero-tolerance stance taken in this aspect and members who violate this will be disciplined quickly and harshly as this will damage the harmony on SGC.
   
   
5. No vulgarity. Even modified words to leave out certain letters is not allowed, eg. f*ck or any of that sort that is clearly understood to be a vulgar word. We believe that it is possible (though some may have difficulty) to convey your message without the use of such language.

7. Zero tolerance on spam. Do not spam other members through private messages or any other way on the forum. DO NOT post multiple threads about the same topic as this is definitely considered spamming. You may not use the forum or private messaging to solicit members to come to your website or offer any products or services or for any other reason unless the member has specifically requested the information. If you receive any private messages or come across any message that you suspect may be spam please report it to a moderator or administrator. The following are a few examples of spamming.
   
   
   • Very short posts that do not add value to the current thread. Example: multiple similar posts by the same member with only the words, "i dunno" or "lol cool" can be considered spam. An exception is probably for the 'Fun & Funny Stuff Forums'.
     
     
   • Double Posting. A double post is a back to back post by the same person. The second post may be considered spam. If you make a post and realize that you have made a mistake please use the edit / delete options, these are located to the right of each posted message. There is a Multi-Quote option that allows you to quote multiple posts at a time so that you do not have to reply multiple times to different posts in the same thread.
   
   
8. Members who post more than 5 news articles a day may have their news articles deleted if there are no replies after 24hrs. This is to reduce the amount of news threads that do not interest the community as a whole.
   
   
9. Report offensive or inappropriate content made by other members to moderators through the 'Report Post' button on the bottom-left icon of every post. Mods will definitely look into the matter and take appropriate disciplinary action against the member if necessary. Pls PM mods ONLY if no appropriate action was taken after some time to avoid flooding the mods inbox.

Advertising & Self-Promotions

• No promoting of/linking to other Forums & Spree Sites.
  
  
• No advertising or self-promotion of any sort unless in the Classifieds section. This includes linking to certain words in your post or just blatantly publishing your links after your post.
  
  
• No using of articles with keyword links to promoted sites.
  
  
• No quoting of entire articles with reference to the source for promotional or publicity purposes. Articles should be attached solely based on quality of content. Spamming the forum with your articles and link-backs to your sites will result in your site being banned here on SGC. As a general guideline, nothing more than 1 article from the same source every 2 days unless from official news or information sites like Straitstimes and CNN. Decision on whether it is spamming will be at the sole discretion of the mods and admins.
  
  
  

Respect the Administrators & Moderators

1. It is a tough job and a thankless task moderating the forum. Any person who tried to challenge an administrator's or moderator's authority or being rude / throwing insults at them will be subjected to possible immediate banning regardless of how justified you may feel you are. Raise any disagreements personally to the mod via PM first and if that doesn't resolve it satisfactorily, PM an administrator. Their job is hard enough without them being attacked for what they do. Unless your participation is severely impacted by a mod/admin's actions, please refrain from questioning their decisions. Learn from your mistakes and be more careful in future postings.
   
   
2. You have the administrator's personal guarantee that we review the conduct and performance of our mods EXTREMELY SERIOUSLY. We recognize that the success of SGC depends a great deal on having good mods that can be trusted and respected by members. As such, we like all members only want good & fair mods to be appointed. If you feel very strongly that a certain mod is not carrying out his/her duties properly/fairly/professionally, pls PM an administrator with relevant evidences and we guarantee that it will be looked into. However, baseless accusations or bias insults against mods will not be tolerated.

Marketplace Etiquette

1. Advertising is only permitted in the Classifieds section. Do not post the same advertisement or self promotion in multiple forums.
   
   
2. Please do NOT post derogatory remarks in the Classifieds threads. If you feel that the person selling or buying an item is untruthful or mistaken, pls say it IN A POLITE MANNER with relevant evidence to support your claims else it can be considered slander.
   
   
3. Do not reply to threads in the Classifieds section unless you are specifically interested in the product or service or having something valuable to add. Comments such as "too pricey for me", "can't afford that much", or "don't like it" are not appreciated by the originating thread poster. Do not reply and attempt to trash another member's thread or say you've found better etc.
   
   
4. Common sense goes a long way, just put yourself in the shoes of the thread starter.
   
   
5. The Marketplace is intended for advertising products and services owned or operated by forum members.
   
   
6. If you need to post multiple items in the same classifieds category, you must post them all in one thread and NOT create individual threads for each item (i.e. spamming). Gratuitous self *bumps* are limited to one per 24 hour period (unless you need to respond to other members' inquiries). We want to make it as fair as possible to all SGClub members.

Signatures

Signatures can be set up in your profile. Do not place images, URLs or links to sites that contain explicit, vulgar, sexually-orientated, or obscene content in your signatures. Signatures that are disturbing to other members or inappropriate can and will be removed by administrators if deemed necessary. For more details refer here:

Your SGClub.com account may not be transferred or sold to another party. Duplicate accounts are not permitted.

Final Words

When / If in doubt, please contact any staff member or post in Suggestions & Feedback forum.

If we follow these simple rules, it helps to maintain a better community for all of us. Most importantly, please treat each other with respect EVEN if the other person fails to do so. Report them and they will be dealt with accordingly. It doesn't help matters by returning tit for tat but makes matters worse.

The purpose of the SGC Blog is to allow everyone the opportunity to blog about anything they are interested in. However, there needs to be some rules to ensure that the blog sections are kept in certain order.

• No selling of retail items (i.e. brand new) items are allowed.
  
  
• No blogging of illegal and adult stuff.
  
  
• Requests for help of non-personal issues should be made in the forum and are generally not done in blogs.

Appreciate if everyone kept to these rules in order to keep the blogs clean and free from spam and misuse. Tks.
