Going on a diet is bad for your health

There are many overweight people in our country. And when they finally decided to loss weight to be more healthy, the first thing they think of is going a diet. It seems very common sense. How often do you hear people say, to lose weight, you must go on a diet. Now it is really so? The answer is no. As a matter of fact i totally disagree with the idea of going on a diet. Let me tell you why.

Firstly when you go a diet your metabolism literally shut down. You know when you want to loss weight, how important your metabolism rate is. In fact to keep your metabolism rate going, you need to eat regularly. So by going on a diet your metabolism actually shut down which make losing weight very difficult.

Secondly when you go on a diet and skip your meals, you will be super hungry at your next meal. That means you will end up eating more on your next meal. That means you will not only not loss weight, you may even start to gain weight by eating too much in a single meal simply because you skip your earlier meal and you are super hungry.

So the next questions is what is the solutions? The solutions is stop dieting and start eating. The key to weight loss is to eat light meals more frequent throughtout the day. In fact i recommend eating 5 light meals throughout the day instead of 3 normal meals. You may ask if i eat 5 light meals throughtout the day instead of 3 normal meals, will i end up eating more. Let me explain. If you eat 5 light meals as compared to 3 normal meals, the amount of calories should be about the same. But the key is to let your body consumed only a certain amount calories at a given time. That means your body will not consumed too much calories at a given time, which mean also there will be less chance of the calories converting into fat. By eating regularly with 5 light meals, you will ensure that you will never go hungry and your body metabolism will always function at its best level.

Re: Going on a diet is bad for your health

Starving yourself is not the solution if you want to lose weight. Some may succeed with such method but it takes its toll in the person's overall health. He or she will be undernourished.

There are actually certain foods that burn fat naturally. Have you ever heard of Catabolic foods?

How do they work? When you eat catabolic foods, your body will need more energy to digest that food than the actual energy it provides. So where else will your body get energy but the stored fat? You not only get nutrition from healthy catabolic foods, you also burn fat naturally.

Examples:

Fruit:
Blackberries, Blueberries, limes, Pineapple, cantaloupe, Grapefruit, Oranges, Plums, Strawberries, lemons, raspberries, pears, watermelon

Vegetables:
celery, sweet potato, asparagus, cucumbers, peppers, tomato, broccoli, eggplant, radishes, cooked spinach, carrots, lettuce

Re: Going on a diet is bad for your health

I'm sorry but francen24 and carlcastyll are giving out incorrect advice and unproven/disproven weight loss information.

The "eat more meals to lose weight" strategy has been disproven as a weight loss strategy long ago.

A study from the journal, Obesity, has looked into this subject by comparing six smaller meals eaten every two hours against three larger ones eaten every four hours.

What they discovered may come as quite a surprise to some of you. Not only did they determine that six meals is not better than three for appetite control, they also found that three meals per day is actually better!

Also a study published in 2010 put test subjects on a calorie restricted diet and comparing the effects of six meals (three meals with three snacks) versus three meals, much like the study discussed previously. Both groups had the same caloric restriction, with the only difference being the meal frequency. The researchers found no difference between groups.

So eating smaller meals more frequently doesn't help in weight loss. All you need is to induce a calorie deficit throughout the day. In fact, over the short term, any diet will help you lose weight. All you need to do is reduce the portions in your daily meals.

Also, there are no such foods that are "negative calories" or catabolic foods. For example, some "experts" say an apple contains around 80 or 90 calories. But the energy your body uses to metabolize the apple burns about 180 calories. So, when you eat an apple, your body burns off up to 100 calories more than you consumed.

In that case, if you ate 10 apples a day, you can offset 1800 calories, which is the average calorie consumption per day for a man. I challenge anyone here to eat 3 square meals a day PLUS 10 apples and still lose weight!
