SINGAPORE: After three days of competition at the 2011 Isle of Man Commonwealth Youth Games, Singapore's gymnasts were rewarded on Sunday with a bronze medal from Terry Tay in the men's junior vault final.

On Saturday, the trio of Timothy Tay, Aizat Jufrie and Terry had missed out on a bronze after finishing fourth in the men's junior team event after posting a combined score of 219 points. England took the gold medal (238.700), with Canada (229.150) and Australia (221.950) finishing second and third respectively.

Terry, 17, made a comeback at the Ellan Vannin Gymnastics Club on Sunday, scoring 14.450 in the vault final.

The Singaporean gymnast was just 0.325 adrift of Englishman Dominick Cunningham, who finished second on 14.775.

Scotland's Douglas Ross claimed the gold with 14.825.

Around 800 athletes from 64 countries are taking part in seven sports - athletics, badminton, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, rugby sevens and swimming - at the Youth Games, which started on Sept 7 and ends today.

The six-member Singapore contingent competed in athletics and gymnastics.
