3. fluvial landforms result from the work done from floods. agree?
4. infiltration and percolation differences? infiltration means water seeps into the subsurface and goes into the soil layer or the aeration zone, while percolation means water seeps into the groundwater zone. this is 3m. any other things?
5. diff. between throughflow and baseflow? my answer: throughflow occurs in aeration zone while baseflow occurs in the groundwater zone. anything else? :/ .
6. when they say "international organisations," does that refer to supranational bodies only or also TNC's?

help please!!! .
1. I think no?
2. Does transfers = flow?
4. Infiltration is water seeping into the soil, percolation is water that has already been infiltrated further seeping downwards. Haha can say that infiltration -> throughflow, percolation -> base flow? Or is that nonsense that doesn't deserve any marks?
6. Instincts telling me it's supranational bodies but don't rely on my instincts haha!

Okay I am just guessing these answers cos I'm not that confident in geog!

Divergent plate boundary wouldn't have island arc

Volcanic island arc for o-o convergent
Volcanic continental arc for c-o convergent

Re: H1/H2 Geography Thread (Discuss anything about Geography here!)

I'll just type out some notable drq question since most of it just requires your typical DRQ skills.
1) About globalisation
Field study: Primary research is needed amongst business to investigate further the nature of services offshored in singapore. Design a recording sheet to use when conducting fieldwork interviews with these businesses.[6]

2)About migration. eg. 3 reasons why young adults worldwide miragte[5]
How does an understanding of a person's stage of life help understand the pattern of national migration in other age groups in fig. 2?

3) About re-urbanisation -eg. Reasons why the inner city(gentrified) were attractive to people looking to relocate using info from resources.[8]

4) globalisation + urban
Mostly about how Dell operates as TNCs.
eg. Why some of their firms are located in cities.
- To what extent is the north-south divide evident in Dell's spartial organisation.

Essays.
5a) explain the emergence of NIDL
b)explain the role of state in the location of econmic devt(very popular qns recently)

OR a) Describe and explain the devt of hub status in the contect of global economic change
b) Globalisation creates more winnders than it does losers. To what extent DYA?

6 either a) explain why replacement level fertility is hard to achieve in DCs.
b) raising a girl child is as worthless as watering a neighbour's plant, Discuss the ways in which attitudes to gender affest fertility.

a) In 2010,mortality rates in 37 counties, both LDCs and DCs were higher than they had been in 1990,,suggest reasons for these changes.
b)asses the impacts of changes in population structure on employment and the provision of services.

7a) Outline the environment impacts of transport problems in urban areas (with ref to fig. 6)
b) why is thransport congestion in the urban areas of LDCs and DCs difficult to overcome?

7 OR a)explain why cities introduce re-imaging projects
b) to what extent do you agree that social problems of urban areas differ between dc and ldc only in scale?

Ok that took awhile, would have been so much easier if i have a scanner.
You're welcome!

Re: H1/H2 Geography Thread (Discuss anything about Geography here!)

I'm taking H2 geog this year too but I suggest you don't do 'spotting' and just memorise as much as you can.
Based on the previous year's paper, for the phy geog paper. Global warming have been VERY popular(causes, impacts and measures) and they like to allocate 16 marks on IMPACT questions rather than your typical 'asses these measures' qns.

No idea what the human geog essays will be. Unfortunately there is no TYS for geog but there's this really useful website that might help.

Yes, I'm just working to cover all the content and not miss out anything, it's quite unpredictable! Climate change came out in last year's DRQ and in 2011 essay (the 16m one) so yeah.

Good luck to you!!
