Maybe because when you young, you never shave away the 'unwanted skin' from your head, which caused you to have lesser hair grow.
You should shave away that skin by cut botak when you are baby. But its too late now, you shall see specialist better now.

Re: Hair Loss! Help!

Your hair loss is probably inherited, so there is not a lot that you could do.
This is fact.
Go see a doctor for help. Do not waste time seeing the trichologist or hair treatment centres.
Get Regaine or propecia from the doctors.
Eventually you may need to consider other options.
all the best1

Re: Hair Loss! Help!

Dear JP16,

In response to your question, you should go to National Skin Center at Mandalay road. Make an appointment with the doctor there. They also treat hair loss, and they treat it objectively, without the bias of salesmen. Ask them whatever springs to your mind, that may have caused your hair loss in the first place, because it is an important information that you must remember to avoid future hairloss. If possible, ask for extensive examination. They charge $75++ for consultation, exclusive of prescription fee. Better than those expensive treatment centers! Most important of all, They are the real experts in this field, and you can never go wrong when you ask for advice from them.

But keep it mind, some hair loss are untreatable, and the best you can do is try to rescucitate growth. Only known treatment so far to put back hair in your scalp would be the costly transplant around $10,000.

A common hair problem in men is the male balding pattern. This is caused either by old age, stress, wrong diet or lack of sleep, But it is believed to be genetical heritage. It can occur in young people as young as 15. It gives the illusion that your hair is balding, when actually is is thinning. Your hair became shorter, to the point it is reduced to only roots, and vanishes.

Common treatment that doctors would suggest would be constant use of minoxidil, which must be used for lifelong treatment, because if you are EVER afflicted with male balding pattern, it does not stop. You cannot stop treatment for too long, because you will instantly lose its benefit. And this must be done regularly, if you wish to reap the benefits. Minoxidil cost $50, and are available in generic drugstores. Another method is through pill ingestion (forgot the name), which is consumed daily. Both medicine have known side effects. Minoxidil may cause itches in your scalp, while the pill may cause dysfunctional erection. You should NOT take them without doctor consultation.

It is also important that you monitor each treatment progress, to evaluate if it's working, and change method if need be.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

2 reason why i am posting here. 1 for my personal selfish reason =p and another just to share my experience.

Firstly, my experience on hair loss is go see a doctor. Dunno why but i've never trusted those Yunnam hair care and hence the first place i've visited was the National Skin Centre. My first visit there was when i was around 23 i think when i first started having hair loss problem. On my first visit there, after discussing with the doc, i had a better understanding of hair loss and started on the Minoxidil treat as recommended by the doc. I was having more of the hereditary hair loss where my frontal was loosing more hair than normal. The Minoxidil was kinda effective at the start and manage to reduce or keep my hair loss constant instead of having it worsening. I also did not feel any of the side effects mentioned for Minoxidil.

However, good things do not last and after i finished my Uni studies, my hair loss kinda worsened (possibly due to work stress) and hence i returned where this time the doc advised me to go for propecia. Initially i was kinda against the oral pill but looking at my hair loss condition, i decided to give it a try. Propecia works quite well but there is still always the tugging feeling where i know that there is like maybe 0.5 or 1 % chance of impotency. However thus far none of these side effects were felt and hence i am still using propecia though i am reducing the amount where i try not to take it daily. Hence, point i like to make here is that Minoxidil and Propecia both worked for me and Minoxidil for a while or good 2 years. Perhaps you should wait till you get some other positive confirmation regarding Yunnam before trying it out.

2nd reason, selfish or not, is that i have currently having 3 bottle of Minoxidil that i am trying to sell and 1 bottle that has 4/5 left. Selling all (3+1) for $110. I've posted another post under Classified but awaiting approval by moderator. I've stopped using Minoxidil where as i have mentioned, it seemed to have loss its effect on me. Nonetheless, i will still recommend this to anyone who would like to combat hair loss and give this a try. The bottle i have are from Nation Skin Centre where they have my name printed on the prescription label. Expiry is still a good 1-2 years away. Just drop me a msg or PM if keen.

Re: Hair Loss! Help!

1. Check your scalp
2. Choose the right shampoo [ organic shampoos , those that would'nt become foamy ]
3. No Chemicals [ dyes,rebond,perm ]
4. Relieve stress
5. Check if it is hereditary [ sad case if it is as nothing much can be done , but can always prevent more from falling ]
6. Treat , visit a doc for the right treatment for your hair type [ oily/dry/flaky..]

Re: Hair Loss! Help!

Hi JP 16

You might want to see doctor to have him test on you to make sure you are not having thyroid problem. Cause hair loss could be due to some sickness. If the sickness is not the cause, and if you dont wish to use the doctor's medicine and oral pill (cause of side effect), i would like to share with you my experience in Yun Nam hair care.

P/.s - I am not from yun nam and not promoting them. But since i been there before, i just share it with you and people here though iI dont quite like they push people to sign this, buy that. Some of my friends also experienced that .

My hair loss was like some years ago and i believed was due to stress. It started to fall and went unnotice until i saw 3 patches (10 cents size), i then panicked and went YN.

The 10 time package was around $2000 plus or 3000 plus (i cnt remember), but, it helped after 7 or 8 times(once a week and this come out to about 2 months plus) i saw hair started to grow. INitially, it was some black dots appearing, and later, it grew out of the bald patch and formed baby hair. . I used only shampoo they recommended and have to spray tonic on scalp after each hair wash. I also took the chinese medicine they recommended and i took only i thnk 2 bottles? (i find that quite heaty and must drink lots of water)

Most important thing is that the first thing is to 'stop the hair from falling further' during the treatment, then, return to healthy scalp and next, hair will start to grow back.

They further asked me sign up for another 10 sessions, and i went on and signed another 10 sessions, but, i asked for lots of discount. by the 12 or 13th times, the hair had grown and it took more than 6 months to 10 months or so for it to be fully grown. The remaining sessions i converted it to scalp treatment and i need only go once a month to treat my scalp for maintenance basis.

Friends told me actually, i didnt need to continue with another 10 session, because, once the hair has grown on the bald patches, it wil continue to grow if that person is free from medical problem. What one needs to do is to make sure scalp is healthy (make sure not oily) and eat well, and most importantly, sleep well.............

Hope that you have sought treatment or have seen doctor and 'patience' is the key word.

Some natural food could help with scalp, you may want to search thru the internet.

Take care and regards,

TS.Do think twice on going to National Hair Center...I've had bald patches once, basically its just like a footballl, spots around my head..I was refered to NHC by poly-clinic..I tell you,it was NIGHTMARE for me..I went for the first few sessions, they injected my scalp!! it was HELL lots of pain,my dad then confronted the doctor..I went to NHC for a few months but it has shown no results...It was until when my granny introduced me to this doctor at margret drive...Its HO clinic,It has cured my bald patches and my hair has grown back..
