Exclamation Help a child learn to read - donate English books

Dear SGClubbers,

Help a child learn to read – support the South Africa Mobile Library Project
This project was jointly launched by SAPESI (South Africa Primary Education Support Initiative), an NPO based in the Republic of South Africa, and the South Africa Department of Education. Mr Hasunuma, former Managing Director of Sony South Africa, established SAPESI to conduct the project in partnership with the South Africa Department of Education. The purpose of this project is to visit schools in remote areas with books for children and teachers who would otherwise not have access to such learning materials. The Mobile Library Project has been well received in the poorer regions of South Africa and so far has a fleet of more than 35 mobile libraries in use. For more details, please PM me and I'll provide you the link as well as the address to send the books to ^_^

How you can take part
In support of the project this year, we(sorry, unable to disclose company name here, TY for understanding) will be conducting a book donation drive from 1-31 July 2009 in Singapore.

Kindly note that books donated must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Only English language books (British English preferred)
- Content suitable for children aged 6 – 15 years old
- Book types: picture books, story books, children’s reference books, children’s encyclopaedias, as well as other types that are suitable for children learning to read English

Please avoid books that are:
- Damaged or very dirty
- Contain a significant amount of handwritten notes
- Outdated
- Contain content unsuitable for children
- School textbooks

We believe this is a great opportunity to come together to support the future and dreams of children in South Africa, and it would be great to have your support for this cause. Thank you in advance.

Wow thats really nice of you. I am also part of a community that helps people in a poor community. We provide literacy and feeding program in order to help the children in not only their studies but in filling their stomachs as well
