history elec seq question

Help D:
Im an o level taker this year, and i need some help with this question on the intent of treaty of Versailles..

The question is "the main intent of the treaty of versailles was to punish germany".

My first paragraph:
The intent of tov was to punish germany. Germany was made to accept full blame for the war under the war guilt clause. Also, Germany was made to compensate for war damages and pay reparations of 6600 million Euro to the Allied powers. This punished Germany as it humiliated and angered the Germans. Also, Germany had to pay for damages for causing the war. Hence, the intent of the Treaty of Versailles was to punish Germany.

Is this correct content-wise? Am i supposed to link it to the terms of tov or write about other stuff?

Oh and im not exactly good with the explanation part.. Neither do i really know how to write for the rest of the factors
Can any kind soul taking history elective help me with this essay?
Your help is greatly appreciated

Re: history elec seq question

Hi, im also a o level student for this year. From what i see, you still lacked some info in explaining how the Germans suffered in the TOV. For reparations, you lacked on how are they going to suffer by paying 6600 million pounds. [ ensured that Germany will be poor in many years to come.] The germans resented the reparation settlement which was to be paid off in 42 years. it served to impoverwish them and slow down economic recovery.

These are the notes that i have for TOV.

War guilt clause
Germany hated that they have to fully accept the blame for the war, as the allies also contributed to the war. felt humiliated, accepting all blame showed weakness.the Germans felt that the kaiser's government should be blamed as there were no representatives included in the discussion of the TOV. they felt that the treaty was not a negotiated peace but a dictated one. the terms of the treaty was worked out in secret and there was no opportunity for the Germans to voice out their objection during the surrender.

Territorial losses
another factor that was made to punish Germany in the TOV is the territorial losses. As many territorial that once belonged to Germany was taken away. Most importantly, Saar, a land rich in coal. The Germans were angry that their lands and coal fields are taken away. This meant a loss of resources and loss of sources of income- could not develop economic resources meant lesser jobs. No chance of starting afresh if industrial lands were taken away.

Military Terms
The Germans were required to scale back its military forces up to only 100,000 professional soldiers. Only 6 battleships and some small ships were allowed. Germany was not allowed to have tank , air forces and submarines. The Rhineland situated in Germany was also required to be demilitarized. This angered the germans as they have to cut down on their forces which meant humiliation as army size represents their power and prestige. This undermined their sovereignty and felt vulnerable as it could not defend itself.

Hope this helped you out. From what i know, Seq is about your understanding and how you link your answers to the questions.

Hmm what you've written sounds like German reaction towards TOV.. Nevertheless, thanks for the notes!
