SAFE WAY is to EXERCISE REGULARLY.
eat more meals BUT they should be light.

Sometimes I wonder if exercising really helps.. Maybe it doesn't work for me.. cos I was in sports CCA in pri and sec school but I was still overweight.. so ironic.. At most it helps to maintain the weight but not really decrease it.. But I see other people (sports people) very slim and fit.. perhaps it doesn't work on me =S

sleep early, drink plain water. eat 5 meals a day. very small portions. lean meat/fruits & vege.
most importantly, go jog. it helps.

I agree with some of the suggestions so far. Try to minimise carbs, like rice and bread. Eating wholemeal bread is fine though. Eating 5 times a day is good too but make sure they are light meals and the calorie content should not exceed 1500 kcal if you want to lose weight quickly.

Do NOT jog, run. And start off with a really long distance, that way you'll force yourself to reach that distance every single time. I started off with 10km and not once have I ran any less. Also do weights before you go for your run. At least about half an hour.

I took about a year but I managed to shed about 30kg. I'm at my ideal weight now. Good Luck!

Waiting till NS is too late already. NS can push you and help you, but it's not a miracle also. There are still guys who come out from NS being overweight. Besides, if you start now, you'll have a slightly easier life in NS as you are fitter and have not much problems with the exercises.

Hey I was much shorter than you, much heavier than you, if I could do it, so can you.

And you do not want to wait till NS. They gave you so much food that if you don't control yourself, you'll just put on weight. I actually put on weight during ns and I wasn't the only one.

My cousin tried to exercise too! But if lacking of determination wont help in losing weight that way. Maybe by slimming products or slimming centers might helps. They helps my cousin in that way. Now he's with more confidence, and maintaining his weight still!
