How to get Lucid Dreams

Hi

I use to have lucid dreams when I was younger. Not anymore these days. Is there a way to get lucid dreams again?

Re: How to get Lucid Dreams

A lucid dream is a dream in which the sleeper is aware that she or he is dreaming. When the dreamer is lucid, she or he can actively participate in and often manipulate the imaginary experiences in the dream environment. Lucid dreams can seem extremely real and vivid depending on a person's level of self-awareness during the lucid dream

anyway, you can read the wiki article on this, maybe it'll help

Wouldn't lucid dreams make u more tired after u woke up from your "sleep"?? cos your brain never rest at all

It doesn't seem to occur to me that way Sleep has always made me less tired. Minus those 2 hour trips in NS. Anyways, I've got these from www.mind-course.com/dream.html . Doesn't seem like much harm trying, we have nothing to do after we 'go to bed' at night anyway

........To achieve a lucid dream state, one technique is to ask yourself the question, "Is this a dream?" or "Am I dreaming?" 10 to 20 times just before falling asleep. The conscious repetitiveness of the question will eventually be submerged into the subconscious dream state. Reflecting cognitively upon such a question in the dream state will result in some form of conscious intervention and awareness, and hence a lucid dream state will be achieved.

........As a variation of the former method, simply count and affirm just before retiring, "I am dreaming, One" -- "I am dreaming, Two" and so on. Attending to the counting process keeps your conscious awareness vigilant to what you intend to do. For those people who tend to fall asleep rapidly, this method can have you counting straight into dreamland. Coupling this with moving your eyes rapidly from left to right simulates the REM state and enhances your chances of a lucid dream.

........Another method is to reiterate over and over to yourself just before going to sleep, "I am going to sleep now. I know that I will be dreaming. I will recognize that I am dreaming when I am dreaming. Tonight, I will be consciously aware of my dream. I will remember what I dream in full conscious detail."

........You can also use a stimulus response link. For instance just before going to sleep, look at your hand while reiterating to yourself over and over, "When I see my hand in my dream, I will know I am dreaming." One researcher used with great success a mild electric shock to signal subject dreamers they were dreaming in their dreams.

........Any of these techniques may initiate a flood of colors, images, sounds and thoughts. If you begin thinking in abstract ways, it usually indicates the right brain is taking over and the left brain is becoming idle. Just continue observing and the sounds and images will eventually evolve into a 3-dimensional dream that you can consciously explore, change and learn from.

........For recurring nightmares or fearful dreams, intensely visualize yourself actively in a more preferred scenario just before falling asleep. Imagine yourself initiating actions in the manner that is most beneficial to you so that the stage is set for the superconscious mind to rerun the same play in your favor. Combine your visualization with the suggestion that you are in control of your dream and that there is nothing to fear. Eventually your imagery process will merge into a dream process and positive results will be achieved.

........Using the above techniques will produce an ability to achieve lucid dreaming in 4 to 5 weeks or less. After achieving a lucid dream state, act only as a casual observer at first or the condition might quickly dissipate into wakefulness. Slowly integrate into your dreams volitional control and alterations, and soon full dream mastery will be achieved. If you avoid whimsical notions, you can design purposeful meaning to your dreams and achieve in the dream state that which you want in the real world. If you want positive episodes to happen in the real world, you can now create dreams about them first.

Re: How to get Lucid Dreams

I'm actually surpised someone brought this up...

I'm not a master of Lucid Dreams and actually tried a little bit back then (a year back). Got 21 so far, with about 1/3 of them lasting quite long compared to my 2/3 which lasted less than a minute)

I don't think it will work by exhausting yourself, at most it'll make your sleep much deeper.

Be more aware of your life and your dreams, that is all I can say. Once you're aware of your life, note absurdities, out of the normal stuff (not ghosts and stuff). Just simple strange occurrences, like a purple dustbin, or maybe someone is wearing a rainbow hat.

Next just keep a Dream Journal and you're on your way to lucidity.

False, you might actually even feel better after waking up from a Lucid Dream. Even without Lucid Dreams, you'll be still dreaming and your mind works whether or not you lucid dream during sleep.

-----

I haven't been putting any drop of effort into Lucid Dreams recently, so I've been getting no lucid dreams at all, there are many techniques and variations I've yet to try out.

Everyone can Lucid Dream, but it's not easy to get, you'll have to put in quite a bit of effort.

Thought it requires some hard effort to achieve, it is definitely possible, though it might be easier for some ...

@the post above: yep, good way to spend sleep times

Are you Lucid Dreaming or was it just a pleasant vivid dream?

See if it works...but yeah, will exercise like crazy later...I use to have a fren who always get lucid dreams. He said you have to be really emotionally calm b4 u sleep. Then he say that that's the reason he gets wet dreams all the time cos he can control who he wants to see in the dreams and what he wants to do with the girl in his dreams...hahah

Normally, you don't get wet dreams from dream sex. I'm serious.
It's been documented by Stephen Laberge.

But yes, you have to be emotionally and mentally calm, that is why 2/3 of my Lucid Dreams last under a minute because I wake up from the excitement.

Excuse me, my boy....I am a girl...I dont fancy those kind of dreams...

If only i can control my dreams, I would dream about shopping and going to spas....then not paying for it...

shahrt added 2 Minutes and 17 Seconds later...

Hmm...I guess some meditation before sleeping will help a bit to calm and soothe me down...
