How to slim down your Pot-Belly?

For us men, one of the area that we tends to store fat is at our stomach area or some say pot- belly. This is a big problems for men. This is because having a pot-belly can be unslightly. Many men i know are embrassed about their fat pot-belly. Not only men, many women too have big pot-belly and are equally embrassed about it. In this articles i am going to talk more specify about how to reduce your pot belly.

Many people are wrongly mistaken that by doing a lot of sit-up exercise, we will remove or reduce fat in that area. Nothing can be further from the truth. This is a misconception. There is really no spot reduction exercises that can burn up fat in a specific area by doing a specific exercise like sit-up. What our body needs is, an overall aerobic exercises that will burn fat in every area of your body including your pot-belly. In short, you need to sweat it out by doing aerobic exercises in order to slim down your pot-belly.

Many people agree that running and jogging are one of the best aerobic exercises to lose body fat and slim down your pot-belly because they can burn off more calories. It has been estimated that going jogging for an hour can burn an estimate 600 calories. While running for an hour can burn an estimate of 1000 calories. This compared with walking and swimming which burn an estimate of 300 calories and 400 calories respectively. Again let me stress that this number is just an estimate. The point i want to show is in general jogging or running is the best aereobic exercises that we can do in order to burn fat

Another good way to burn fat is weight training. Weight training not only improve the shape, tone and strength of your body, it also burn calories as well. It a known fact that weight training has a double effect on calories. It increase calorie expenditure both during exercise and while at rest because additional muscles require additional energy supplies. Although aereoblic exercise increased our active metabolism, it has little effect on our resting metabolism. That means for aeroblic exercises you only burn extra calories during your run, however after your run, your metabolism rate returns to normal. However with weight training, our metabolism rate increased even when we are not training and when we are resting. In short our metabolism rate increased 24 hours a day even when we are sleeping. This is because the more muscles we have the higher our metabolism rate. It has been proven that having additional half a kilogram of muscles, can burn an additional 50 calories a day. That is the advantages of weight training over aereoblic exercises.

However i strongly believe that we need to do both aerobic exercises and weight training in order to slim your pot-belly. I firmly believe we need both, this is because one without the other will not be effective. If you do just weight training, and your metabolism rate increase, however if you do not do aeroblic training like jogging or running, then you may end up not burning enough calories to slim down your pot-belly. So my conclusion is you need both aeroblic exercise and weight training to slim down your pot- belly effectively.

well ur diet also plays an important role, if u indulge in junk food or take in too much calories then no amount of physical activities would make u slim down( unless ur a marathon runner or those body builders with huge muscles). I also heard from the TRA program that a correct diet is 90% effective in weight loss while exercise is like 10%.

To slim your pot-belly down is to slim down your whole body.
It's impossible to just slim one area, down.

Yes i suggest we do not eat past 9pm, cos when you sleep you do not burn much calorie, so when you eat a lot before going to bed, you basically will gain weight with all those calories

I think working on core muscles will also help.. combine with aerobics exercise.

depends on wat time u sleep, u can take some fruits or other low calorie food if u rly feel hungry.

Yeah its true I have no problem doing over 50 sit ups per minute, but I do have some belly fats, though not pot belly type, but still there are some fats. ):

I think you are taking about this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adipose_tissue it can only be reduced by a high exercise workout daily and good diet.

Thanks everyone for replying. Yes to reduce your pot belly, you need to exercises well both cardio and weight training. And you need to eat a balanced diet too. Yes trying to slim down your pot belly is a life time exercises. No short cut
