The infraction system is commonly misunderstood by members and we hope that this will explain how we view it and how it works.

Basically, the infraction system is a way for us to maintain some kind of order on SGClub, much like the use of demerit points in driving. As long as members don't hit the maximum points to warrant a ban, their status & participation levels will remain unaffected. Currently, here is the max infraction points amounting to a ban.

6 Infraction Points - 7 Day Ban
10 Infraction Points - Permanent Ban

Members should view infraction points as a way for mods & administrators to keep track of members' offenses. Instead of using PM to warn members, points are issued so that we know how many times you have been 'warned'. With this being said, mods can give 0 infraction points warning if the offense is small enough. It will be up to the discretion of mods to determine whether the offense warrants it.

However, all infractions given will expire after some time. This means that they will no longer count towards the total infraction points when they expire. Here is the list of infractions, their associated infraction points and the amount of time before they expire. For most of these infractions, mods have the authority to determine if the assigned points should be given or a '0-point' warning of the infraction be given instead.

• Not Following Rules - 1 (1mth)
• Inappropriate Bumping - 1 (3mth)
• Thread started in wrong forum - 1 (1mth)
• Spammed Posts - 1 (3mth)
• Signature Rule Violation - 1 (1mth)
• Inappropriate Language - 2 (3mth)
• Inappropriate Advertising - 2 (2mth)
• Inappropriate Content - 2 (1mth)
• Insulted Other Member(s) - 2 (3mth)
• Spammed Shoutbox - 2 (3mth)
• Spam Threads - 3 (2mth)
• Disrespected Moderators - 3 (12mth)
• Private Spree Link in Signature/Forum - 3 (3mth)
• Promoted other Forums/Sprees - 3 (12mth)
• Spammed Emails/PMs - 10 (12mth)
• Spammed Advertisements - 10 (12mth)

If you received an infraction, a PM will be sent to notify you along with the reason. You can see your total infractions below your nick in the following order: number of warnings/number of posts infracted (total current infraction points):




Finally, we wld like to reiterate that the infraction system is a means for us to track offenses and warnings. If you have been awarded a few infraction points, just be more careful in the future and they should expire in a short while. Some members have requested that a private warning via PM should be issued before infraction points be given, but this makes it almost impossible to track which members have been previously given 'private warnings' by individual mods. WIth points, every mod will see if a member has been 'warned' before and thus if a member chooses to repeatedly make the same offense, appropriate harsher punishment can then be given like restriction of access or banning.

While we recognize that many don't like the idea of being given 'demerit' points the first time you commit an offense, it is the only way for us to effective track every member. For most of you, the points will simply expire after 1-3 months, and you will not be affected in any way.
