IPPT in your community
TO ENCOURAGE National Servicemen to keep fit and train for their Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT), the outdoor physical fitness equipment at existing fitness corners in public housing estates will be improved.
This is among the recommendations put up by the Fifth Committee to Recognise the Contributions of Operationally Ready National Servicement to Total Defence (Record V), which has been accepted by the Government.
Each selected fitness corner will have relevant IPPT static stations for chin-ups, standing broad jumps, shuttle runs and sit-ups.
In addition, running routes will be clearly demarcated for the 2.4km run. If necessary, new fitness corners that are designed for IPPT training will be built in public housing estates, said a Mindef statement on Friday.
Safra will set up a committee, comprising volunteer NSmen, to oversee the implementation of this initiative, working with the relevant town councils and agencies.
More details of the programme will be provided in the next three to six months.
